I give this a 2 star because the place is very noisy. I have been to a lot of librarys and know a lot. The adult section is downstairs and it does not matter where you sit in the library on the first floor you can here the sound of the books being scanned in or out. If you sit on the second floor you get screaming children. They have a room called the quiet room. Thats a joke. There is a door but the librarian just today said the door needs to be kept open because its a common area. Explain to me then librarian how is it supposed to be quiet in the room if the area outside the room is loud or noisy if the door is open?. Let me ask you this librarian: why is there even a door then?. Also Librarian people know its a common room to have a quiet space. Having the door open doesn't make it quiet FYI!. You might as well not have a quiet room at all in that case. You get the same environmental sounds as if someone were sitting just on the other side of the wall outside the room. Librarian's can y'all see? Clearly you can see that there is more than one person in the quiet room even if the door is closed, so obviously people know its not a private room. Also you have security cameras. You can obviously see that people come and go even with the door closed like its a common area...
Read moreThis library is one of my favorites! It's beautiful inside and out, and it's always clean and well-kept. I sometimes take my kids there because the entire upstairs is perfect for them. There's a little toddler area with lots of fun activities. It's pretty big, too. I love that there are so many places to read, and it's always nice and spacious. My kids have always had a great time at the drop-in activities here. On the 15th of every month, I am able to sign them up for the following month of activities. We are interested in the family nights. I will also be bringing my almost 8 year old to do some of the new activities they have...there are some that are "drop in" which means you can just come in and you don't have to sign up. The other ones I have to either call, website or in person. They are super friendly here and...
Read moreTinley Park Library wasted four (4) hours of my time. They adverstised they have a "New" Video lab. A service to us tax-payers where-as you can convert your memories from a VHS tape onto a DVD. What is the reality is they have in-experienced staff and sub-par equipment. I even brought my own home VCR in and still a no go on conversion. I had another "appointment" yes, you must make appointments at that Library so they can waste your time. I called hours earlier and was told they had the problem "fixed" that was present yesterday when they wasted more of my time. The difference between yesterday and today's "FIX" was the system was worse. DO NOT USE THIS NON-SERVICE AT THIS LIBRARY, it will frustrate and anger you. Most...
