The food is really great! However, the service wasn’t the best. I brought my mom and stepdad here because my husband and I love the food here. My stepdad is Mexican so I was excited for him to come to this restaurant. Sadly, our waitress Joalis did not deliver a good service for us. I asked for tacos de birria de RES and she brought me tacos de birria de BORREGO. So I wanted beef, not lamb. Another waitress named Maria brought it and I said, this is not what we ordered so she apologizes and goes back to the kitchen to see if it can be changed. The waitress Joalis comes to us and confront us. She assures us that we did ask for lamb birria tacos and not beef. But we did not, I made sure I asked for beef. My husband and I didn’t want lamb lol Anyways, she leaves and a little later on, she comes back and wants to keep confronting us. She tells us that the kitchen told her that the meat they give you has to be lamb, not beef and only the birria soup is beef flavor. She was mad tbh. At this point I’m so done, I tell her: “Just give me 3 tacos de carne asada” lol so she looks at me surprised, acknowledges me and leaves. Then 1 minute later, the waitress Maria comes back with the birria tacos of BEEF. We are, of course, very thankful! After that, the waitress Joalis never came back to our table lol I tried to keep it short, but it ended up being a long paragraph 😅 We understand it’s busy, she also forgot my mom’s Diet Coke for example and gave us a bucket of beers with all of them open, even though we asked her to please only open 2. Also, when we were about to order the first time, she just kinda ignored us at one point since she was distracted by not sure what. We are very chill people and don’t mind usually the service. We understand waitresses are busy and sometimes they might forget things and that’s fine. BUT what we didn’t like is her coming back 2 times and tried to keep confronting us just to be right. That’s not customer service and we would know, all of us have worked in customer service at some point. To end in a good note, the waitress Maria saved everything. She was very sweet and apologized for the bad service we had. She should teach Joalis some customer service 🤣 Food 10/10. My stepdad liked them so he approved. If any management reads this, please...
Read moreThis place is seriously the best kept Mexican secret in Orlando.
I am a Texas transplant, so one of my first priorities upon moving to Orlando was to find authentic tacos. This little place is on the end of a small shady-looking strip mall, which is how I knew it would be good. I've been coming here for years now and still rave about it! I think Taqueria Ameca is one of Orlando's best kept secrets and I am a fervent evangelizer of this place to anyone who will listen. I always get tacos with adobada, ugh, SOO delicious!!
Let me clarify something: if you are looking for a fancy, non-authentic, and/or chain restaurant - this is not the place for you. It's hole-in-the-wall, cheap, authentic, and delicious Mexican food. It doesn't taste like Chuy's because it's legit and 50 times better.
Also - to address someone who said they've always waited a long time - I have literally been here probably 50+ times, and the only time they've been slow is when they're really busy, and that's to be expected. So I don't know what that person was talking about.
Last thing - a family owns the restaurant, which means you're supporting a local, small business, which is fantastic. If you're looking for Americanized Mexican food, go to Tijuana Flats down the street, but if you're looking for authentic, come here-- you won't be...
Read moreOutstanding authentic Mexican food. I've been here numerous times and it is always consistently great. They make the best buche I've had. Its so tender and juicy and flavorful. There aren't many places in Orlando that even offer buche. All of the tacos are excellent but my favorites are the buche and the cabeza. The milanesa de res torta is super delicious and very large. The bread is light and airy and the milanesa breading is crunchy and never greasy. My other favorite is their chiles rellenos platter that comes with two chiles and rice and beans. They have a salsa bar that has a couple of very spicy sauces (the orange one had me in tears) and a mild green one, fresh lime wedges, cilantro onion, radish slices, pickled onion, shredded cabbage and a couple other items to top your tacos/food with. They also offer bottled/canned beers and sodas. The restaurant is very clean and has lots of seating. The parking lot can get full depending on what time you go but I've never had an issue finding an open spot. I cannot recommend this place enough. It is my favorite and I go as...
