We’re here in Orlando for our annual trip to AAU Nationals followed by a family vacay and my baby girl wanted “Soul Food.” She had seen some videos on TikTok but we didn’t know the proximity to us so I gave it to Google. When Googled “best soul food in Orlando” P&D came up first. I shared it with my daughter and we began reading the reviews. After reading the first few my husband started driving to the location. We are a family of 5 and after a day at Magic Kingdom, we were famished! As we neared the location, I was still reading and came across some negative reviews, but I thought that since we were just about there, we’ll still go anyway. So glad we did! My younger son, 19 is a vegetarian and he is also my soy chef at home. He was about to foregoing the yams because he’s picky when the young lady behind the counter offered him a sample. He said they tasted like “heaven”. He loaded up on veggies (greens, Mac and cheese, yellow rice with gravy) ordering a large portion that was to last for 2 days…it barely made it back to the resort! My baby girl, 17, ordered the 10pc fried shrimp asking me to share it with her. She also got the Mac and cheese and yams. She didn’t want to share the shrimp anymore after getting a taste and ate everything she had and wanted done of mine too! My older son, 22, is the indecisive one! He went with fried fish and shrimp. He got dressing, green beans, and something else…(whatever his other side was was eaten in the car with no trace! Finally, I ordered the fried chicken wings and 1pc pork chop dinners…I was intending to share with my husband. I got yellow rice, greens, yams, and Mac and cheese x2. I had to apologize to my husband. He dropped us off at the resort while running to the store for drinks. When he came back, there was a little mac and cheese and a few bites of greens left! I could not stop eating. The food was amazing! Don’t let be forget about the strawberry shortcake! My daughter started eating her strawberry shortcake while we were waiting because the fried food is made to order (which I love) and she sent me to get more. I had originally ordered 3 (me, my daughter, and younger son). After her raves I bought the last 2 that were in the cooler! And I got a peach cobbler! The good was yum! The staff was awesome! The portions were great! I’m kinda sad we didn’t come here sooner on our trip because I would have returned quite a few times. Nevertheless we will definitely be back the next time we are down here! If you are in Orlando, go here! Dismiss the negative reviews because I’m a foodie and that food was next level! Sorry no photos, we were done before I could even think about...

I've only eaten here once but I tried a lot of food so that I could figure out if it was worth going back.
Let me get right to the crux of the review. The food I ate was good but I wouldn't necessarily be writing home to mom about this spot. I think to sum it up, it's worth swinging by to grab food to go "if you're in the area". I wouldn't travel across town to this spot just for Soulfood.
This spot is cafeteria style ordering but it's super cramped in there. I saw several times while only in there 15 mins, that the staff was getting in each other's way, while trying to get orders for patrons as you move through the line. There are no tables on the inside but there are three tables outside the door but still inside the building. They offer a small or large plate & the large really is two meals so you get your monies worth. Staff is friendly & try to get you out quickly but there's a line usually out the door.
I had the oxtails over yellow rice (you can get brown rice as well) since I had been craving them recently. The oxtails were tender enough and the yellow rice was cooked to perfection. Oxtails are all about the gravey, and these oxtails gravey were good but not great, and not the best oxtails from area soulfood restaurants.
I had collard greens, mac-n-cheese, & potato salad as my sides. You only get two sides with your meal but I bought one extra. The potato salad was great. It tastes just like grandma's potatoe salad which is high praise. The potato salad is a must try without a doubt.
The collard greens were tender & tasted okay but nothing to write home about. They didn't have that rich "grandma" smokey flavor that you get with the home cooked collards.
The mac-n-cheese was actually pretty good. I would eat the mac-n-cheese again.
For my dessert I ate the bread pudding. Again I'm a bread pudding connoisseur & this bread pudding taste just like grandma's. They didn't try to do too much with the bread pudding like other restaurants. They just make a classic & great tasting bread pudding.
Overall I should go back here to eat again but only if I'm in the area. Also if this place takes phone carry-out orders, you are probably better off calling ahead because...
Read moreOh my gosh This soul food is delicious remind you of my great grandma's mac and cheese the old fashioned way I'm not really into the soupy Velveeta type Mike and cheese with The top cheese baked it reminds me of Kraft or your basic box brand If I wanted that I would just cook it myself I straight out the box put some cheese on top and throw it in the oven I love the old-fashioned mac and cheese that's creamy enough to wear the cheese as much as always through and more on the dryer then wet baked mac and cheese 🧀 answer my account you can cut a square lol like Grandma used to make the turkey wings oh my God are delicious they even have carrots in the turkey wing juice and I tell you the carers are soaked seasoned through with the juice of the turkey wings oh how delicious they have meatloaf and a smothered chicken and fried chicken and all types of goodies pork chops smothered pork chops sirloin steak smothered and I believe they also have chillings on certain days if you're a real country buff that likes All parts of the pig including pig feet You just have to go there and check them out I'm telling you they are delicious You will never not want to stop going there there are two other soul food restaurants that I visit from time to time If I can't make it to this location or I'm just too far away at the time and have the taste for soul food and no I won't make it before they close even though they do have pretty good late hours but as usual I think they're closed on Tuesdays or Mondays as a usual soul food restaurant why I don't know I'm not going to look this up is it a tradition or is it something ancestral that the soul food restaurant are closed certain days doing the early week I don't know but I wish they were open 7 days a week, gospel soul food restaurant out there are all cheaper or a little more in the price and give you a huge ton of food on the plate.
