I was casually looking this company up as I thought it might really exist in San Fran. However, I see it's just a Universal Studios thing. I have to say, I'm shocked by the number of bad reviews for this place. It's Universal Theme Park, just like Disney. Everything is overpriced. Me, my wife and my 3 kids ate at this establishment on July 4th around 1-2pm window for lunch. My wife and I split the swiss, mushroom truffle burger, while 2 of my 3 kids split the chicken sandwich with side honey mustard (Ken's). My other daughter only wanted fries. We purchased those refillable Universal souvenir cups for $13 each (69.95, yes this was the bulk of our order). You can fill this cup up around the park at refillable stations. Now to the food. The food was amazingly good. And I'm a burger connoisseur. The swiss burger with truffle mushrooms was amazing. It was juicy and seasoned well. I was regretting not getting my own. My kids filled up on soda with their souvenir cups so I was able to try the chicken sandwich. It was juicy and not overcooked as well. The Ken's Honey Mustard pack was a perfect complement to the chicken sandwich. I love honey mustard. The French fries were hot and crispy as well and they have Heinz ketchup. My total for the order was about $110. Typical Theme park meal price for a family. Imagine if we got 5 different meals. Like I said the souvenir cups was $70 for 5.
Maybe Universal Studios and Richter Burger Company read these reviews and have made changes. I would give it 4.5 stars (but I'll round it up to 5 as I can't give half stars on here). My only complaint was the wait time is pretty significant. But on July 4th it wasn't nothing unexpected. The guy (who I think is the manager) calls out numbers and names. Everyone stands around in a mosh pit waiting for their name and/or number to be called. Maybe a 30 minute wait. But that's nothing compared to the 3 hour plus my family and I waited to ride that Harry Potter motorcycle ride.
The staff did their best to clean tables as people finished eating. Like I said, they must have read these reviews because some of the horrific experiences I read wasn't the case on July 4th. Keep it up...
Read moreUpon getting in line to order, an employee in the lobby asked if I had tried using the mobile app to order my food ahead of time to be delivered to the table. I told him I had tried, but I hadn’t linked my credit card to the app yet and didn’t want to try to do so while walking down the crowded street when I was on my way there. He looked off into the ether and mumbled something under his breath. I asked what he said, and he replied “It’s not hard to add a credit card to the app”. I told him that I knew that, but I was already in what was a short line so I’d rather just continue on this way. Which was my right. (To be honest, I am pretty tired of being directed to a computer instead of a human these days anyway which was of course his goal / job.)
In a progressively annoyed tone, he asked what table number I had chosen before getting in line because I’d have to have one before ordering. I told him I had not chosen one - I had never been to the restaurant before and didn’t see a sign or anything when I got in line. (At this point I walked over to a nearby table to read a number to be ready when it was my turn). He seemed quite frustrated at this point and said there was no sign, that they didn’t need a sign. I asked how new customers were supposed to know about the table number process before getting into the line without a sign.
He said “Well there’s no sign for the entrance, but you somehow managed to find your way in.”
At which point I was about to lose my cool so I frustratingly told him to have a good day and walked out. I’ve never had someone be so pointedly rude to me, as a customer no less, when from my perspective I’d done nothing to deserve it.
No comments on the food. Never ate...

We stopped by Richter’s Burger Company during our day at Universal Studios 🎢 and honestly… it was okay. Just okay. Nothing terrible, nothing amazing—right down the middle.
I ordered a Caesar salad 🥗 and it was decent. Fresh enough, had a little crunch, dressing was fine, and it filled me up without making me feel heavy. Nothing to rave about, but I’d probably order it again if I was in a pinch. There were quite a few brown spots on the lettuce which I did not eat…
The rest of the fam went with burgers and fries 🍔🍟—my wife and kids all said the same thing: “It’s alright.” No complaints, no excitement. Just solid, middle-of-the-road theme park food. Could’ve been hotter, could’ve been juicier, but again… nothing tragic.
Now let’s talk about the seating area 🪑😬. Tables were dirty. Not just “a few crumbs” dirty—like, “had to wipe the whole thing down myself” dirty. I ended up cleaning off our table with napkins just so we could sit down and eat like human beings. Not ideal when you’re already tired, hot, and juggling trays of food with kids in tow 🧃👧👦.
Overall vibe? Pretty basic. No theming that stood out, no service to speak of, and nothing memorable about the experience. Just a place to grab a quick bite and move on.
Would I come back? 🤔 Maybe—if we were hungry and nearby. But I wouldn’t go out of my way.
Bottom line: ✔️ Food: Serviceable ✔️ Cleanliness: Could be WAY better 🧼🚫 ✔️ Experience: Meh ✔️ Would I recommend? Only if you’re in a hurry...
