first let me say the burritos were a great size. I don't know that I'd compare them to the size of a baby's arm (as they do on the menu) because that would be one huge/obese baby but suffice it to say they are a good size burrito. However, My happiness over the size stop ped with the beautiful outside appearance... that's because it's mostly filled with rice. I would highly doubt that my burrito today had a half pound of meat in it as they advertise. I got the Korean burrito and there was very little spice to it. It was supposed to come with a sriracha sauce and kimchi and I definitely did not feel that was in there. As I mentioned, the beef was lacking and it was filled with rice. I would describe it as a rice and veg burrito with a couple pieces of beef scattered throughout it. No kimchi, no spice, very little meat.
The appetizer fries that we got were delicious. They had that Korean kimchi spicy taste. I would have eaten even more but we split it for the table and I was trying to be nice :) Put THAT flavor in the Korean burrito.
The apple dessert empanadas were also tasty. The dips were more like a frosting or glaze and a little too sweet for me and not enough key lime flavor in the key lime one but both were still tasty.
I was disappointed to see that the only seating was two large picnic tables right next to each other, I mean back to back. The front patio was completely closed as was the inside. We didn't say anything but someone else did and she was right. Why so little seating (only 2 patrons, 1 if properly distancing). I wanted to make sure I put here that I agree with the customer about the disappointing lack of seating. The seating they do have is not socially distanced but they claim that's why none of the rest of the restaurant or the other patio is open. They could easily put a nice picnic table in each of the four corners of the big front patio and have some lovely shaded seating but instead they have two large picnic tables squished into a small area where the line and the ordering system and the water is.
Had not been for the fact that we were meeting a friend there, we probably would not have stayed. We would have gone somewhere that had an area that was cooled by fan or air conditioned in this 90 something degree heat.
Maybe they'll open up more now that restrictions are being lifted but to claim safety and social distancing but cramming two tables together in a small area doesn't seem to make sense.
I hadn't been in years and was really looking forward to it. I really enjoyed what I had last time I went and was very disappointed in the burrito. I did enjoy the fries and the apple empanadas.
For a family of four, four burritos and a shared fry and a shared dessert it was almost $70. I don't know I just didn't find it worth that especially when it's basically right now a food truck in...
Read moreToo many restaurants in the greater Orlando area are sustained by the "reviews" of so-called influencers, and tourists. It's evident that former "hype" and nostalgic locals are the only things keeping this place going.
The menu and brand concept seem fantastic at face value, but the excecution leaves much to be desired. I have to believe that this place was actually a great spot at one time (long, long ago). Unfortunately, it seems that it is no longer worth the visit.
Indoor seating is closed. There is a small outdoor area with (unkempt and a bit dirty) picnic style seating available. Nothing terribly off-putting or much different from many other taqueria style eateries in urban areas.
It's not immediately obvious to the uninitiated where or how to order. After a quick look around, the signage will guide you towards a walk-up window with (an admittedly fun and original) foot-pedal style call-button that almost makes you feel like you're playing a Metallica solo.
Enough time after activating the footswitch passed to make us feel like we may not be in the right place to place an order. A few moments later a nice young woman greeted us at the window to take our order. After a few minutes (maybe 5-10) our food was delivered to us on the patio.
We ordered 4 different tacos (korean, pork belly, thai chicken, and brisket), all of them were luke-warm, borderline cold. The brisket was the only thing that didn't elicit an immediately negative reaction, but that may only have been because it was the most tepid. The flavors were sort-of-okay, everything was quite mediocre and an overall disappointment.
The tacos could best described as the "La Croix" of Mexican-Asian fusion, in that you can almost taste the idea they were going for. Truly, it was a relief knowing that we had not ordered more than what we had already been served.
I wouldn't go as far to say "stay away," but I don't see why anyone would have any good reason to choose this place over the numerous superior options in the area.
A more detailed Google search on Tako Cheena will lead those curious enough to look towards some interesting (and unverified) claims that indicate turmoil between former business partners and subsequent poor management lead to the present state of affairs. Based on our observations this seems totally plausible. One Reddit post includes some exceptionally bizarre accounts that are just wild enough to be believed.
Unless some big changes take place,...
Read moreI had this restaurant as my go to for late night tacos ever since visiting. However my last visit wasn’t pleasurable and left my boyfriend and I very disappointed in the way our cockroach situation was handled.
As usual, we placed our orders and waited outside until our food was brought to us. While I was eating a large cockroach appeared that startled me. It crawled over my food, my bag, my boyfriend’s phone and across the counter tops.
There was couple sitting behind us, the girlfriend who completely shocked stood up and refused to sit down in fear the same would happen to her.
My bf went in to get someone to clean up. One crew member walked up and swept up the tacos that fell, asked me “Are you sure it wasn’t a palmetto bug and not a roach?” Palmetto bugs are cockroaches btw. A second employee then walked up “Are you guys new to Florida?” as if to suggest that this is the norm.
We waited, thinking maybe a manager or someone would come out soon. No one came back to apologise or CLEAN the seating area. So, my bf went in to address the situation. We was gone for a long time as I sat waiting with the remainder of our food.
Long story short, the employees downplayed our situation and were disrespectful. It took longer than necessary to “remedy” the situation.
We won’t be returning to this restaurant as the employees do not know how to treat customers or know how to host guests. There need to be protocols set in place for situations where your customers aren’t happy or satisfied with their experience especially when it comes to bacteria carrying pests.
Having a roach crawling around your dining establishment is not okay. You may see my pictures of said roach in the attached images. It was almost the width...
