We had high hopes for Pigzza since it's walking distance from our house and we love the growth happening in the Mills 50 area. However, at the end of the night...we left somewhat disappointed.
We did not have a dinner reservation, so I put our names on the waitlist and was told it would be an hour and a half wait. That did not bother us as we live close by and could go back home and come back closer to our dinner time. We returned about an hour later and sat at the bar for a drink while we waited for our table. The bar staff was AMAZING and the drinks we had were delicious.
We loved the atmosphere and were excited about trying this new restaurant, especially since we LOVE Pig Floyds. However, we waited...and waited...and waited some more. We ended up waiting a full 2 hours from when we put our names in until we were seated at a table. Again, I understand we came at a busy time without a reservation.
We had already looked at the menu, so when our waitress came to our table, we put in our full food and drink order all at once. I ordered a beverage and for the table we got the Cesar Salad, the Fusilli w/ Braised Brisket Sauce, and the Big Mo pizza.
The salad came out first, and it was a solid Cesar Salad. It was very good and what you would expect. However, the rest of our food was not as desirable. The Fusilli lacked a lot of flavor and there was hardly any sauce on it...if any. The pasta was also a bit overcooked. We were hoping the braised brisket sauce would be more substantial, but it felt more like a pasta salad than a pasta dish with sauce. We barely ate half of this pasta dish. The pizza came to our table last. It looked and smelled really good, but when we took a bite, it was like eating a handful of salt. The pizza was VERY salty and some bites were more salty than others. Parts of the crust were also very burnt. I love pizza crust and I couldn't eat them on their own. We did finish the pizza because we waited 2 hours for a table and were very hungry, but we would not order it again.
I will say, the service was wonderful and our waitress was friendly and very quick with service. The atmosphere was also very nice, albeit a bit loud inside. I think we were just very underwhelmed with the food after looking forward to the restaurant opening and the hype surrounding it. Also, we love Pig Floyd's and always have great food when dining there. It surprised us to have this experience at Pigzza. Since the restaurant just opened, I understand the team is still working out the kinks and refining the menu. However, I think we will wait at least 6 months before we...

I recently discovered my new pizza obsession, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer! Pigzza, located in Orlando's vibrant Mills 50 District, brings together the best of Italian flavors with a modern twist. This Italian-ish joint is a true gem that will leave you craving more.
I first experienced Pigzza through their special delivery service, courtesy of my awesome husband. The moment I took a bite of their pizza, I was hooked! The flavors burst in my mouth, and I couldn't get enough. But it was when I stepped inside the restaurant and tasted their pizza fresh from the oven that I truly understood the magic.
Walking into Pigzza felt like entering a colorful wonderland. The vibrant decor and friendly staff immediately put a smile on my face. Shoutout to Thomas, the owner, who personally welcomed us at the bar. It's clear that he's passionate about creating a welcoming atmosphere for his guests.
Before diving into their mouthwatering pizzas, we indulged in some truffle fries that reminded me of my favorite steakhouse, and the calamari was delightfully crunchy and delicious. But let's talk about the star of the show: the pizzas!
My go-to is the "Meat Me at Floyd's" pizza. Packed with savory goodness, this pizza is a meat lover's dream come true. Each bite is a flavor explosion that will have you coming back for more. And let's not forget about the espresso, a perfect way to end the meal. Though I wished they had Splenda .
But the real surprise came when we indulged in their one-of-a-kind dessert. Picture this: a combination of carrot cake and tiramisu, drizzled with caramel sauce. Absolute perfection! Every bite was a heavenly delight, with the perfect balance of sweetness and just a hint of salt from the salted caramel ( not sure if it was ). . The dessert was fluffy and divine, making me wish I could have it every night!
Pigzza is not your average pizza joint. It's a culinary adventure that will transport your taste buds to a whole new level. Whether you're in the mood for a classic pie or want to explore their unexpected creations, Pigzza has got you covered. Trust me, once you've tasted their unique flavors, you'll be hooked just like me.
So, if you're looking for a fun and delicious dining experience, head over to Pigzza and let your taste buds dance with joy. Mangia, amici! Make sure to say...
Read moreI have been an avid and loyal follower of Thomas Ward and his other restaurant Pig Floyd's Urban Barbakoa for years, and his newest venture Pigzza located just down the street from Floyd's on Mills did NOT disappoint! We made sure to sample a wide selection of dishes during their grand opening: for pizzas we ordered the Meat Me At Floyd's pie (a barbeque brisket pizza inspired by Pig Floyd's, a delicious nod to Pigzza's culinary ancestry) and the Happy As A Clam pie (which evoked the taste of Cioppino stew for me, and like Cioppino it is served with the shells on. Well worth the effort of needing to remove the shells before eating, but just be aware that you will need to do that before you order!). For pasta we had the Smoked Brisket Parm with spaghetti and marinara (a mind blowing twist on a chicken parm, a super unique and tasty dish! You can also order it as a sandwich instead of over pasta if you prefer!). For sides we ordered the Roasted Artichoke and Pepperoni Dip (smoky and delicious, served with some bread), as well as the Cacio E Pepe fries (tasty and very sharable, plus they are great for dipping in the Artichoke Pepperoni dip if you run out of bread!). For drinks we had a Greenpoint cocktail (bitter and herbal, a great contrast to the rich pizza and pasta) and Pigzza Smash cocktail (think of a whisky smash twisted with grapefruit and pistachio orgeat, really fantastic!) That was all a LOT of great food, and honestly we probably over ordered and over ate, but there was a lot we wanted to try!
Everything was absolutely delicious and a great unique experience! We can highly recommend everything we tried, and we are already planning a return visit so that we can try more of the menu that we missed! The atmosphere of the newly built space was also really nice, even though it was a little packed with people on opening day but hey that's to be expected with this many people excitedly waiting to give Pigzza a try! We also really appreciated the choice to use gender-neutral restrooms, that was a nice positive touch for inclusivity!
All together this is an easy 5 out of 5 and another big win from the Pig Floyd's dynasty. Already looking forward to...
