Me and my boyfriend were not …at all happy with the service given to us. I don’t want to sound upset but staff were not trained properly and I almost walked out from the host holding a finger up at me to wait and walking away after she stared at me across the restaurant and watched me as I watched her waiting to be seated. Since I waited I bent over and peaked at their zoning (how they section the restaurant for waiters) just because I was curious as someone who also worked in food. Finally we were sat and the host did not even know the name of your waitress and seemed off(possibly high?) everyone seated in the restaurant was upset. The sweet waitress I think her name was Keshia was working a party, couple, us (couple) and another table including more than just her zone. I could tell she was new to waitressing by some habits she had most new people do. But she was obviously exhausted and she was trying her best. The food was okay. Not what it used to be. But the part that hurt me most was when checking out she rung us up and finally my partner asked her why she was the only one actually working. And I will not continue to describe the conversation we had together but, you need to ensure you take time to properly train your employees before throwing them to the wolves. Your business will suffer if you do not take the time to train and prepare your employees. I did not see anyone who looked like they were confident in their actions at all. I am concerned for your employees as even the cook?? I think?? Was more interested in walking out side and hanging out than going to the back and working. He was not even in a uniform. I felt like I was in an episode of bar rescue from the horrid experience. Me and my partner we waiting for a show host to come In and save the day. I do hope you perhaps find manager from another location to work together and train new employees. Or if you’re a corporate location and not franchise based you contact corporate and ask for help getting back on track . As I watched guess leave their tables...
Read moreThe Denny's visits on Thursday and last night were awful.
Thursday was after Rockville and my fiancé went to the Denny's in Ormond because the one on International was going to be too busy. We arrive, there is one couple waiting. They were seated. Then we were told by the server that she couldn't serve us that night because her other server called out and it was just her. Being in the restaurant industry, we understood and left.
Last night, we decided to try our luck again. Still, there was only one server but we were allowed to sit. We did, knowing the service would be a bit slower, which we didn't mind. We ordered our drinks, a Coke and coffee. When the server returned, she gave a Coke and something we didn't know right away what it was. It took a long time for her to come back to the table even though we tried to get her attention multiple times. When we finally did, she said it was an Arnold Palmer and that is what he ordered. My fiancé insisted that he didn't and that she wrote it down, showing us the book. I then backed up my fiancé because I knew he never said Arnold Palmer. We didn't even know what the drink was before she told us! No sip was taken out of it ever.
She groaned loudly and left the table. Then she was screaming (yes, screaming) about us and never came back to the table. The manager (really nice guy btw), brought us our food and the coffee. The server refused to even acknowledge us much less come back to our table. I suggested going somewhere else because I no longer felt comfortable but we stayed because our food was already cooked.
I gave it a full 12 hours before writing this review because I wanted to make sure that I didn't write this out of emotion but fact. I believe the general manager needs to know about what is happening when they are not around. The night manager from last night was great and listened when we told him the issue. I am not sure if he relayed that to the general manager or not, but I thought it would be best to read it from our side too. The two stars is...
Read moreTHE ABSOLUTE WORST DENNYS IN VOLUSIA COUNTY! I came in with my family this morning, as a server I understand the staff shortage, no worries. What I don’t understand is just plain ignorance and rudeness. When we came in there was no one at the host stand not a line, so we moved our family out of the way just in case and my husband stood at the host stand. In the time we were waiting for the host just to come back 2 older couples arrived as well. When the host saw them she FINALLY came around the corner. She completely ignored my husband and took the first older couple back. One of the gentlemen acknowledged me and my family and that we had already been waiting. When the host came back again she asked who we next and how many, the gentlemen pointed at me and I said us, we have 5. She completely ignored me and turned to the older couple and asked how many and took them back because “they were here first” even though the gentlemen had already acknowledged we were. When I went to speak she ignored me again and just walked away even after someone said that my family was there first. We came for my nephews birthday and all he wanted was Denny’s. We decided to leave and just try calling. The first time the host CiCi answered, when I asked for the manager she laughed and then hung up the phone. The next time someone else, David I believe, answered and was very snappy. Before I could even finish my sentence he hung up on me as well. Basically if you want to be treated with basic respect and dignity- don’t go here. Do...
