This is the last time for us after being insulted. With dining in and take out, I probably have 50-100 meals from this restaurant. The take out order was simple last night, chicken terriyaki with lo mein noodles and moo goo gai pan with brown rice. When I got home there were not lo mein noodles. I called to advise them, and after an apology, they asked me to come back to get the lo mein. However once there, as I was describing to an older gentelman from the restaurant (who may be a manager) that this was not the first time, a female from behind the bar put the lo mein in a bag and stated "I know I put it in your bag, I don't know what happened to them", threw the bag on the counter in my direction, stated "have a good night" and turned her back on me. I looked at the gentleman and stated whether I would come all the way back here just to get an extra lo mein or be at home enjoying a hot meal? I then left.
As a customer I was insulted that the restaurant would make a customer feel as though we were trying to rip them off. Of course they can't recognize every customer, but with dining in or take out, we're regulars. However it is not the first run in with the person who threw the lo mein on the counter and acted unprofessionally to me. I had a previous ocassion where we dined in and I was left at my table for over 35 minutes without ANY service. When I raised this issue to this same female, I was made to feel as though this was our fault, particularly for even raising the issue. At that time, I had a favorable view of the restaurant's menu, food and prices, and chalked it up to a bad night for the restaurant and was not going to let what happened spoil dining with them.
However after last night's event, we will no longer dine in or take out from Dragon Village. Harvest Moon is only another 2 miles up the road. Dragon Village does a great business and is packed every night. What they don't realize is that service like this will catch up to them. In my experience, no one really expects great service from a Chinese restaurant as much as they just want great food. However, Dragon Village bills itself as one of the "top 100" in the U.S., and I've bragged to many that we have one rated as such here in Oro Valley. Therefore, great service is expected from them! Word of mouth is still the best form of advertising. Our customer relationship with Dragon Village has ended. There are not many dining choices in Oro Valley, but the people of Oro Valley, who made Dragon Village what it is with customer loyalty, deserve...
Read moretheLast night was our first chinese meal since moving to Tucson. We ordered General Tasos chicken, a small wonton soup, and the app sampler. It was horrible, the chicken was prepared correctly but then was put in the wrong sauce, it was not the typical sticky sauce that it should have been. The minuscule portion of wonton soup was alarming not even an 8 oz portion, though it did taste good. The egg rolls were cooked in under temperature oil (Im a retired chef - simple realization) they had no flavor at all. The ribs as well had no flavor and were barely cooked enough. The wrapped chicken, being hard to open since the foil was extremely sticky also had a lack of seasoning. I would have liked to try the crab puffs but the were place on the bottom of this pile and had been soaking in some sort of sauce and were soggy and unappetizing, so I didnt go there. having read several of the reviews here, I wish i had read them first. It seems this hole in the wall hasnt had a good review in a year... perhaps the cook left? In conclusion, We will not be back. I am a CIA grad chef and dabble in ancient chinese cooking of which this has...
Read moreI was literally weaned on Chinese food. Without question, this was not only the worst Chinese food anyone has ever served me, it was the worst food I have ever seen. Everything is frozen, deep fried, and has a sugary sauce on it. . Everything was covered is a slimy coating of oil that leaked everywhere, "Crispy eggplant" turns out to be eggplant densely buried in a heavy batter and deep fried with a sweet red sauce on top. Thrown out. Shrimp Egg Foo Young was a mushy patty - clearly frozen way too long - with no shrimp in it, a sweet red sauce on top, and a couple of shrimp dropped on that. Thrown out. Egg rolls were tasteless frozen, deep fried, and served with a sweet red sauce.. Any veggies inside were tasteless. and mushy. Thrown out, Mongolian beef was tough and swimming a sweet brown sauce. No noodles, I will never, ever buy anything there again....
