Title: A Symphony of Flavors at Flavor of India - The Best Indian Food in Tucson!
Review: From the moment I walked into Flavor of India, I knew I was in for a real treat. The ambiance was warm and inviting, while the aroma of delicious spices immediately captivated my senses. Little did I know that I was about to experience the best Indian food in Tucson!
The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, making it nearly impossible to choose. However, the helpful staff were more than willing to make recommendations based on our preferences. They suggested we try the cream spinach, lamb samosa, and lamb chops, and I am glad they did. They all turned out to be excellent choices!
The cream spinach was heavenly, with its velvety texture and robust flavors complementing each other perfectly. The lamb samosa boasted a crispy, golden exterior with the most tender, flavorful lamb mince tucked inside. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, and I couldn't help but crave more.
The pièce de résistance, however, was undoubtedly the lamb chops. Expertly seasoned and grilled to perfection, they were succulent and bursting with delicious juices. The accompanying sauce added another layer of depth and complexity, elevating the dish to sheer perfection.
The service was impeccable throughout the meal - attentive, yet unobtrusive. Our dining experience was further enhanced when the owner stopped by our table to ensure we were satisfied with our meal. It was evident that the entire team at Flavor of India takes great pride in their food and genuinely cares about their guests.

Read moreWhen we first moved to Oro Valley last year, we were so excited to discover there was an Indian restaurant close to our neighborhood. We stopped in for the lunch buffet, and everything was so bad, I told my daughter in law (who had stepped to the lady's room) not to even get a plate. I paid for my buffet despite only being able to take one bite of a few items, and we left. (The "curry" looked like literal water broth. The samosas had steamed into soggy mush. etc)
Fast forward to this month, when I was surprised to see nice photos and good reviews. Perhaps the buffet had just been an off day or simply isn't their forte. We decided to give it another chance. My family went in for dinner, and although the service was fine and the food was nowhere near as (frankly) gross as the buffet had been, it still wasn't good. The tikka masala and butter chicken did not taste like it had any Indian spice at all. It seemed like what a Midwesterner would recreate if they'd only seen photos of Indian food. It was mushy and bland. Naan was fine. The saag paneer was actually good-- I guess it doesn't matter if that's a little bland. Everything else was sad mush.
I see some people love this place, and that's fine. I assume they've never had Indian food anywhere else or are paid actors. It's really not good. You can go see for yourself, but don't say I didn't warn you. We were tricked by the...
Read moreA new Tucson area restaurant is doing it's best to put forward both its fine Indian cuisine and a more casual atmosphere that doesn't make you feel as if you are dining in the crypt of the Taj Mahal. Six of us sat down to a delightful feast last night, from Mullagatawny Soup to vegetable samosas, we started in high gear. The soup, made with a chicken broth base, was rich and flavorful. The samosas were divine with beautifully crisp crusts and savory potato and pea filling. My companion, who has a severe allergy to pepper of any kind, had a few minutes with the chef was very pleased with a broiled codfish filet, drowned in garlic and onions. Others were served huge piles of lamb kebabs, lamb sausage, aloo paneer which is spinach, creamy and delightfully matched with Indian cheese, lamb saag with that same delightful spinach thickly populated with tender roasted lamb nuggets. Indian breads such as regular and garlic naan, fresh from the tandoor oven were light and crispy and the mango lassis were thick and refreshing drinks when contrasted with the entrees. My next trip to Tucson will definitely have a time slot for another go at Flavor of India. The lone fault was an inexperienced waitstaff, who, although hard-working, were not as attentive as we liked. Since the place is new, the service will mature to match the exotic flavors of the well-prepared meals. Let's all...
