Niko's Gyros — Restaurant in Oshkosh

Atmosphere is a little odd. No real theme to the place. It's just there. With some seating. Like you're in a basement or something. Not a place I'd want to dine in at by any means.

Ordered Greek salad pita and grilled veggie pita. Fries. Baklava.

The good. Fries were fresh crispy and tasted like wholesome fries. But no seasoning/salt.

From there I guess I'm not sure what's really good. I'm not a major food snob but I like fresh tasting quality food that is seasoned.

The Greek salad is some cheap iceberg lettuce, unpitted olives? Really? Average tomatoes. Cucumbers decent and crunchy. 3 massive chunks of feta you have to crumble. And zero seasoning on anything or salt or pepper. The Greek dressing is sweet and tastes like something off the shelf in the grocery store. Please don't call this a Greek salad pita. This is not Greek salad.

Grilled veggie pita. Bunch of veggies and full. Good portion. Fried in oil? Butter? And again zero flavor or seasoning of any kind. Very bland.

Tzatziki sauce is weird. Tastes like mayo. Not tangy like a Greek yogurt. Texture is really weird, hopefully it's not gone bad.

Honey baklava. So clawingly sweet and it's like someone poured a jar of honey in your mouth.

Overall food price and quality and other factors I just can't recommend this place. It's a shame, they seem to care and treat their customers good. But cheap American fake Greek food with no flavor or seasoning and bland. It's a disappointment to say the least.

How so many people think this is great authentic Greek food is beyond me. Probably the only place they've tried before.

You're Greek salad pita would be better like this. Fresh arugula, fresh tomatoes like campari or Roma. Red onions. Cucumber. Pitted kalamata olives. Lightly dressed in a lemon pepper vinegarette. Crumbled feta on top. Tzatziki on the side that is smooth creamy and made with Greek yogurt. Tart and tangy.

I've had plenty of dining Greek food and home cooked and never had Greek food this bland and subpar quality before. I hope they up the quality. Not sure if I'll return. No issues with anything other than food...

I want to first say I never have the time or bad experience to the point I would write an online review until now. I have been in the restaurant business field for many years and so I understand there would be mess ups etc but this was the second time this happen and on top of it terrible customer service, no satisfaction to please there loyal customers. I ordered an 15 dollar meal for myself delivery and it was nothing like I ordered and I specified the entire order. My bread was soggy and everything I asked not to be on it was on it, food was cold and I waited an hour just to be disappointed and still hungry because I didn't eat my food. I called and let them know and they didn't want to send no one back with a correct order and said they would credit me so when I was ready to order again I would have a credit and by the way that was no pleasant when it was done. Almost 2and half weeks later which is now I decided to order and use my credit and added to the order which I would have paid the remaining amount and when I told them I had a credit he looked me and said I only had a 4 dollar credit and I explained the same order I ordered now is what I ordered than which was almost 15 dollars and he rudely stated well all I see is 4 dollar credit and ended it. I will never take my hard earned money...

EDIT: I stopped by again and am disappointed at how it has changed. The building has only gotten more gross with some duct tape holding it together. Staff is rude now and messed up orders other than mine. This should be fast food, the key word is SHOULD. I waited 28 minutes (pickup) for a regular gyro and fries. Now, I understand places can get busy, but they only had three other tickets. I could see and hear that. The staff did not even seem to care or notice that we waited so long. A simple "thank you for your patience." Would have brought my review to three stars. The staff also swore freely and actively would groan whenever they got a new ticket. Cajun fries are still great though.

The building itself needs some love and cleaning, but the staff is nice, the prices are great, and the food is even better. Not to mention you can use the Oshkosh ocm card here.
