First time back here in a couple years. Looks like the menu has been revamped. We did a carry out tonight. Chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and some mozzarella sticks. from the time I placed the carry out order online (9:47) to the time the food came out of the kitchen was fast (14-15min), about ten minutes faster than the pickup time they put on the order confirmation. They said order would be ready at 10:12. I stepped out of my car at 10:00 sharp & headed inside and sat down at the bar and my food was bagged and ready for carry out within 60 seconds of sitting down. Some would say this is a good thing, but no, my food would have been sitting there ten minutes getting cold and chicken fry getting soggy with condensation from warmth inside the styrofoam container. Pure luck that I got there 10 minutes earlier than they advised. The chicken fry is definitely hand breaded as advertised. Good flavor. Somehow though, despite the speed of pickup and the short 1.4 mile drive home and immediately eating, the food was only luke warm aside from the gravy which was in a separate container and almost cold. Underwhelmed, I’d give them another shot and see what happens just because I can imagine how tasty this meal would be nice and hot. Order was placed at 9:47. Got the food at about 10:02. Was home eating by 10:15. Seems very odd for it to be nearly cold in such a short time unless it was like, pre made before I...
Read moreThe good: Our waitress was very kind and informative, I only tipped for her time.
The bad: I was in a group of 3 and we decided to go to this location. When we entered at about 1 there was only 4-5 other people drinking. We were on a lunch break so we had a limited time but thought the timing would be fine because we had an hour and were just next door. Well we shared an appetizer (spinach and artichoke dip) that took a while to get to our table and then another long while till we got our meals. I ended up packing my meal (baked mac and cheese) in a to go box while also eating it. While eating my mac and cheese i suddenly didn’t feel good. Neither did my other two coworkers. We get to work and we just felt worse and worse. I was throwing up when i got home and had to call out work. My other two coworkers were also in the bathroom often. We assume we got sick from the appetizer we had shared… it had to be old or someone wasn’t being sanitary with the food. I was very disappointed because I’ve gone to Talk of the Town bar before but in the Leawood location and had no issues with it. I will not be going to the 119th and Quivira location anymore. I haven’t gotten a chance to call and get a refund. I have not been in a place where the food made me feel instantly...
Read moreWalked in on a Sunday during a chiefs game and the place was a ghost town. Nobody greeted us and the other couple who walked in before us. Finally, a girl from the kitchen walked up, no greeting or nothing, rudely asks how many, then seats us. We then waited nearly 10 minutes for the server to finally come over. We were seating next to where a bunch of servers and kitchen staff were sitting at a table on their phones. The blonde server took our drink order and then disappeared for another 10 minutes. We also waited longer than normal for very bland sports bar food. She never checked on us at all, never offered refills either.
We had a $25 giftcard that was gifted to us to pay with. The server disappeared for an uncomfortably long time with our credit card only to come back with an excuse as to why we can’t use the giftcard. She took my number and said the manager/owner would call to fix it. This never happened. It’s been a month.
She was pregnant so I didn’t want to give her a hard time. But for how slow the restaurant was, the complete lack of hustle and rudeness was unnecessary. I gave them a month to get back to us but I assume the server never passed on the information. Definitely not going back and will not recommend to family and friends....
