I'm very surprised by the high reviews of this place. They had lots of flavor options for both cookies and drinks. We got 4 cookies to try: Banana cream, Salted caramel, Lemon tart, and Peanut butter nutella. The peanut butter nutella was on a peanut butter cookie, and it was pretty good. The other three were all on sugar type cookies (though each was slightly different) with different frostings. The frostings on each were pretty good, except the banana cream, which had a banana pudding type layer and then a toping that I'm pretty sure was Cool Whip. The fact that I saw a Cool Whip container in the back definitely solidifies that assumption. As for the cookies themselves. the sugar style cookies were kind of gross. They were dense, thick, cookies. The nutrition facts lists a 4 oz cookie. I weighed one and it was 6.3 oz. The banana cream one was closer to the consistency of brownie than a cookie. They also all came out kind of cold. I think of cookies being much better when they are warm. Perhaps they had them chilled due to the frostings and food safety?
I did find the drink options interesting. If I felt like their main marketing point was making drinks, I'd give them higher marks. I enjoyed the...
Read moreFabulous! Twisted Sugar is by far THE BEST cookie and soda store in KC. The staff is incredible. They listen, explain their product, and never make you feel rushed. They are super personable...something we don't always see these days. (No, I'm not the guy that runs kids out of his yard. :-) )
I planned a birthday party for my wife, and Jake, one of the owners, was really helpful with selecting cookies AND even decorating a group of cookies with the Magic Birthday Number. Jake knew the party was a surprise and made sure the cookies were ready on time. (Sorry I forgot to take a picture.)
If you just want a great treat, or you need something special for an event, you can't go wrong with Twisted Sugar!
Thank...
Read moreI was excited to try them because of the wider variety. They all use the same few bases of cookie though, making them less unique immediately. I heard this place was affordable but at over $30 for a dozen, I'd beg to differ. I'd much rather get a dozen donuts or another dessert literally anywhere else cheaper. Every single frosting was soft and messy, not one with a denser frosting adding SOME sort of extra texture to the cookie. Honestly disappointed in the overall experience and will not be going back. Better cookies elsewhere at that...
