Quivira Park — Attraction in Overland Park

This small park has a few sand volley ball courts, a playground with wood mulch as turf, restrooms, a parking lot and a sheltered picnic tables and grill. But, there is no walking trail and, therefore, it is not dog friendly. The sidewalks in photos are only short paths to each of the park attractions. With dogs on leash, we completed our walk in under 5 minutes. With all that is there, it seems the green space is wasted and could easily support a walking trail down by the hedge row of trees to complete this park; and a trail could meander around the park’s amenities as well as connect to the Johnson County trail which is very close by. Other reviews say easy access to the trail system, but this access is by walking outside the park...

Swings are way too high for small children to reach by themselves. It was a hot day and much of the equipment was too hot to be used. It is a shady area and does have several different kinds of equipment for various activities. The drinking fountain worked! The trail system in Johnson County is petty extensive and there are lots of good 'veins' to run on. The trail that is connected to Quivera Park is great, it's fairly shaded but not too closed off, and is fairly flat if you want to hit a pace.
