I don't know why this place isn't more popular! (Probably because it's pretty new) We were a little skeptical at first, because it was a Friday night and only one couple was dining in when we got there, but we walked in and the atmosphere was warm and friendly, with nice African music playing, and such. The waiter (William) was super nice and fun to chat with, he helped us decide what to get. We waited less than 20 minutes for our food, and boy was it delicious! I got the goat, with rice, and a chapati, and my husband got the Ng'ombe (beef), rice, and fried plantains. We also got samosas (I think they only have beef samosas, no veggie, but they did have a little vegetarian section in menu) The meats were SO tender! Don't be afraid to order the goat! Everything else was really good and complimented the entrees excellently! We were both very impressed and pleased with our dishes. Doreen (owner and chef) was very sweet and would come out and deliver the dishes sometimes. We will definitely be going back and recommending it to friends, !
Came back a year later, and they are still rocking it! Chapattis were delicious, the food was excellent, the waiters and owner were so sweet, and the atmosphere was as pleasant and clean as ever! We love...
Read moreI recently visited Taste of Africa, a locally-owned restaurant serving authentic African cuisine. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the friendly staff who were happy to offer food recommendations. The menu had a great variety of options, including vegetarian choices which was a big plus.
We started with the appetizer sampler and it was outstanding! Each item was so flavorful and delicious, it made us even more excited to try the main courses. The food itself was well-seasoned and had amazing taste. We cannot wait to go back and try other dishes from the menu.
The restaurant itself was very clean and well-maintained, including the bathroom which was spotless. The art decor added to the overall ambiance and made for a pleasant dining experience.
Overall, I highly recommend Taste of Africa to anyone who is looking for authentic African cuisine. The friendly staff, great variety of options, and outstanding flavors make this restaurant a must-try. It was definitely worth the wait, and I am looking forward to...
Read moreVery good, and very interesting. I grew up eating Indian food, and the influence of Indian food on African cuisine is apparent on the menu: that said, the food here is distinctly African.
My first time coming, they were actually about to close but served me pleasantly anyway. When I realized that I had come in so close to closing time, I was especially impressed that the food was so good, even when a customer comes bumbling in when everyone wants to go home.
Try the beef samosas. They were excellent. My least favorite part of the meal was the masala chai tea. Since it was late at night, I think I ended up with the last dregs of it, but in all fairness, that's my fault.
Tldr; stop saying "one of these days we should go there" and just go. You'll be...
