It started out with our waitress not taking a drink order from us, just simply dropping off water, telling us what they have and leaving without even waiting for us to answer.
Our server Kerri SMELLED of the alcohol she had been consuming, you know that smell that people who have been drinking for hours and they start to emit the smell from their pores? That was her. I don't know if it was because of this or the kitchen messing it up, but my fiancé got tacos for the deal they had on Cinco de Mayo and when asked if he wanted hard or soft shell, he requested soft.
His tacos were not only hard shell, but they're so crunchy and brittle the moment you took a bite you no longer had a taco, but a taco salad. He doesn't hate hard shell, though he did have dental surgery a few months back and still deals with some tenderness which was why he ordered soft shell to begin with.
We would have loved to say something and get what he actually ordered, but after sitting fire almost 10 minutes for her to come by and check how it turned out, she never did.
In fact she didn't return to the table until 3/4 of the way through eating the wrong food. Being as though it was 730 on a Monday evening, it wasn't very busy. But she sure did enjoy chatting with people she knew at the bar.
Thankfully the drink glasses are tall, because when we did get to order then with our food, the one glass was all we got unless we went to the bar ourselves. As again, she almost completely ignored our table.
I feel like this place has potential, but we were left with such a sour taste about here tonight that it will be a while before we consider...
Read moreAfter a 7 hour test flight, menus and food were requested 3 times but went ignored by staff possibly due to still being in uniform. If you have the option, do NOT bother going here unless you want to attempt to eat/drink without knowledge of the menu, ability to order, or room to eat/drink/stand. It'd be more accurate to describe this as a people-watching venue than a restaurant.
If able, -7 stars on service and atmosphere.
In response to the below owner's reply, this was around 8pm on an active karaoke night (Dec 19, 2022), so had no issue getting food from another establishment around the corner. The several patrons on either side of my seat at the bar had no issue getting menus, drinks, food, service, etc. As our crew's missions are extremely long and taxing (flight testing), we prefer to frequent restaurants with a more traditional service mentality rather than what appeared to be a "you don't look like you belong here" attitude observed from both bar employees and patrons. It's not a serious issue in my opinion as you can easily just get up and leave, it's just unfortunate as we love to support local businesses in the cities we frequent, we just cannot, in good conscience, recommend nor reimburse any future flight crews or airline employees who opt to choose this establishment for individual or crew outings while under layover in the Kansas City area.
We do wish you the...
Read moreUpdated review: Worst Bar Service Ever. Came in, sat at the bar and...waited. The bartender was happy to serve other people as they arrived. I guess I should have felt special that he glanced my way while taking care of everybody else Hopefully, this was a one off since the service is usually decent and the food's good (we ordered takeout last night, it's next to the gym). Original review: Outstanding service. Our waitress was efficient, checked in often without interrupting our meal and made great suggestions. She also had a fun personality. The food was quite good. I can recommend the black and blue burger and the bowl entree. Much better than the usual bar fare you find. The beer was delivered quickly and in an ice cold glass. There are plenty of TV's and the Bullpen seems to have all the sports packages. The only annoyance was the background music was today's bass heavy hits as opposed to something more dining appropriate. Overall, the Bullpen has great service, really good food and a...
