The food tasted as good as it looks!!
A cold blustery February day demanded a good hot plate of Chili Verde. This was our second visit to El Fogon. This little family owned Mexican restaurant continues to excel in food quality and service!
A couple of years ago, we ate here a straight up 12 noon. The place was packed. What was noticeable then was that El Fogon is staffed sufficiently to crank out their tasty food for the big lunch time crowd. We had the Carne Asada and the Green Chili Burrito. Both excellent!
Today’s visit was the Chili Verdi and an Enchilada & Chile Relleno Combo plate from their dinner menu. The Chile Verde was a large plate of filling, warming, delicious authentic chopped pork stew in a fire-roasted green tomatillo sauce. The huge combo plate was one ground beef stuffed enchilada topped with white sauce and one poblano pepper filled with cheese & topped with tomato ranchera sauce. Both meals came with rice and beans. Very flavorful, nothing bland on these plates!
The salsas here are very good too. The red tomato based salsa has a little bite to it from the peppers, with garlic, chili powder and cilantro. The other sauce is a roasted pepper/tomatillo. Enjoyed them both.
The service here is very good. The restaurant’s motto is “Everyone is Your Server.” They are true to their motto. Regardless of which waitress passes your table they will check on you!

Read moreWe went based on the reviews on Google but seems like maybe most the 5 star reviews have never been out of Owasso or ate anything besides this place. The service was horrible I know it was busy but we kept getting over looked and no drinks refilled as people around us did. Not sure the name but she got the basically the spinach enchiladas they came out and were basically street tacos they weren't even rolled she said they were not very tasty and the white sauce was about as bland as it could have gotten. I got the seven seafood soup and it was good but maybe learn to count to 7 since there was only 5 items in it. Also, most places that dish comes with cilantro and onions to add but i had to ask for cilantro and Jalapenos but then that took another 5 minutes. Like i said I know it was busy but everyone around us were getting service and since they had us in the corner we couldn't see people coming and when they turned and ran from us they could see us raise our hands for service. Plus we asked for more salsa and never got it till we had our meals and then still took a while after we asked again. I and my friend will...
Read moreA truly spectacular place for Mexican cuisine. I like the complimentary hot salsa, this is another testament for the restaurant, free food is also made with care.
I am a vegetarian, and there are not so many things I can eat. But if a restaurant serves tasty vegetarian food, then their meaty food will be exceptional as well.
I like the veggie fajitas, quesadillas and their pasta. I like the fajita the most, as they make use of potatoes and whole load of veggies crisply grilled and the sizzling plate just makes it more delicious.
On an other note, foe a country eating too much of potatoes, not many vegetarian dishes use them. Almost all the vegan/ vegetarian places make their food like fake meat(/cough cough Chimera/). Who likes Adzuki bacon mashed tofu made to look like scrambled eggs. I just don't see the appeal. It's high time people notice that.
That's why I like El Fogon. Tasty food well worth the trip to Owasso, as so many have rightly said. Excellent and cheerful staff, affordable pricing are just an icing on an already delicious(est?)...
