We order(ed) from La Sicilia ALL THE TIME, easily spending hundreds every month, but we waited almost an hour and a half for delivery today, and got NO apology from the owner either of the two times we called. Also, what genius stops delivery in the middle of the day? If they didn't stop delivery every afternoon, this likely wouldn't have happened. We called at close to 3:25 to have our order delivered at 4pm when they start again. At 4:45 still no food. Needless to say, we are done with La Sicilia for the forseeable future. For delivery, I suggest you go to Nottingham Pizza for steaks or Stromboli, they make them better anyway, have more reasonable prices, and are always quick to deliver. If you're on the road, Bravo is the best at everything in town, especially pizza! Well, best at everything except delivery ;)
RESPONSE TO LA SICILIA: Well, now at least I understand why you were actually called profane names in previous reviews, LOL! My husband placed the order "close to 3:25," as stated in my review (I wasn't present, I just know I asked him via text message at exactly 3:16 pm to order dinner and we are extrapolating from our conversation when he called... it was not a half hour after I requested he do it). At EXACTLY 4:52 your driver finally came to the door. The food was NOT delivered, we told him we had already canceled the order and he left with it never having changed hands. Lying about a situation that is ENTIRELY your failure is unprofessional and puts your lack of integrity on display for other potential customers. What's even more puzzling is why you think even your imaginary hour wait time would be acceptable... it's not, especially before the dinner hour even starts. By far worst of all however, is the lack of even the simple courtesy of an apology after we had to call twice in search of our food (check those "phone logs"). In fact, that is what prompted me to write the review. Maybe a course in rudimentary customer service is in order (which seems to be a popular opinion in previous reviews, as well). Regardless, all ended well; our Nottingham Pizza dinner, delivered in just over 30 minutes, was delicious as always.
Lastly, your ban makes no difference to me, I prefer the competitors I mentioned in my original post. We only order from you when my husband is in the mood for your food, La Sicilia is never my first choice but I usually just leave it up to him to choose. Seems you actually did me a big favor,...
Read moreEDIT- I needed to edit my review to lower this restaurant from 3 stars to 1 due to extremely poor customer service. I came in to pick up my food, paid for it and drove home. When I got home I realized they had not given me my stromboli, which was basically my entire meal. So when I called I was told "Yea we have it right here come back and get it." So I had to get back in my vehicle, drive back there and get it. Even though they offer delivery service, they did not feel it was necessary to deliver the food to me.
Once I arrived, they told me I also had not paid for the stromboli. Don't know if that's true or not, I just had to assume it was true, so I paid for it. They did not offer me any discount, no future coupons, not even an apology. It was just hey, too bad you just wasted 30-45 minutes driving around due to our mistake.
By the time I got home, I had a cold stromboli, a cold appetizer, and my girlfriend who waited for me also had cold food.
Besides this, the food is made from pretty subpar ingredients. The garlic bread seems like it's just made out of a hotdog bun cut in half. The sausage has no taste, the bacon is as thin as paper and seems like precut frozen bacon bits they they just warmed up. The food isn't bad, it just seems all like cheap junk. I wouldn't take someone I wanted to impress here that's for sure.
So to summarize my experience. Average food, crappy customer service, and if they make a mistake they don't make it up to you. The only good thing in the whole restaurant is the canoli. It's unlikely I'll order anything else from here again unless I get a craving for a canoli.
Below is my original 3 star review unedited, before I changed it to one star.
Original review- Food is average, nothing to go crazy for, although it's about the best Italian food we can get in this area. I wouldn't bother ordering anything with bacon. It's the lowest quality bacon I've ever come across, but most other ingredients seem to be of average quality.
Delivery is very slow, we called after waiting an hour and our food was still at the store and this was not during peak hours. I can only imagine the wait when they're actually busy.
One thing they have going for them is the cannoli is absolutely delicious, the shell is always very crisp and the filling is perfect.
Overall, 3 stars for a completely...
Read moreI've been wanting to write this review for a while but hadn't gotten to it until now. A little over a month ago was my 30th birthday and I was having a party. My original venue didn't work out last minute, even after I had sent out invitations and gotten RSVPs. Someone suggested I try La Sicilia as I was in a panic and unable to find a place within budget that had all we needed. I called La Sicilia exactly one week before my party and the owner was so understanding and kind, easy to work with! She got back to me(had to check on event staffing) within an hour - she said she could do it. I was beyond excited that we found a place to hold the party. I had never been to La Sicilia and have never seen the back room, I was only going off of photos online and what people have said. I went in the next day to make a deposit and sign a contract - again everyone was so kind. The day of the party I walked in and I was in awe! The banquet room was more beautiful that I could even imagine! We were able to decorate and they put black linens with gold napkins (black and gold were the party colors) and the tables looked beautiful! The room looked brand new- as if no one had ever been in there- super clean, fresh and bright. The staff working our party were amazing!! They were so helpful, kind and friendly, my family loved them. The food- SO GOOD! My original venue we were going to have bar food - La Sicilia's choices were WAY BETTER. We had chicken picata and penne a la vodka- best I ever had! And on each table was their homemade bruschetta that everyone loved! I even had one family member who is gluten free and couldn't have anything, they brought her out a GF dish just for her - unexpected and amazing! She loved it and was so grateful!! As was I!! The kids were able to get chicken fingers and fries too!
The venue was BYOB - this wasn't the original plan ( we planned for open bar) but they had everything we needed, cooler, ice and soft drinks available. We brought big packs of things for people to drink (alcohol) and non drinkers had their choice of drink which was PERFECT! At the end of the night the owners chatted with us and we told them how great it was! Definitely plan on booking more events with La Sicilia and you should too! And we'll definitely be eating there more often! Thank you La Sicilia and their...
