Oxford's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor — Restaurant in Oxford

I have being watching this place for sometime now. The wife and I have been meaning to give it a try, we've noticed the crowds as we drove by on College street. We finally went this evening. The inside is more spacious and warm than you think. It's permeated with the smell of freshly made waffle cones! One of my favorite things to smell cooking. It has decent sized tables and some comfortable substantial chairs with 2 or 4 places at each table. There was just one person there when we entered but she was friendly and efficient. Great people skills, she explained everything , apparently they make their own ice cream and use all natural ingredients. We watched her make some Banana splits that looked pretty amazing. We both got the waffle cones; they were huge! 3 scoops each. We sat and watched the large screen TV while we ate out huge waffle cones. I had butter pecan, and I seriously thing it was the best butter pecan ice cream I have ever had, That's saying something because before this the best came from the creamery at Maple View Farms in Hillsborough NC. They are fantastic! This place is better. This makes me very happy as I won't be driving 45 minutes to get ice cream from now on! When we finished, we had a serious discussion about going back for 3 more scoops but decided to hurry up and scurry out the door before we both gave in to a second helping of this delicious ice cream. Can't wait to go back again and have the strawberry which I sampled, also amazing. Can't believe someone had the nerve to give this place 3 stars. They have no idea! Excellent ice cream, phenomenal atmosphere, superb proprietress. This is a really nice, small ice cream parlor in the charming down town area of Oxford, NC. The waffle bowl and waffle cone were not just made on site, but made to order! So many places have the waffles made in house, but they make them "en mass" and tend to get stale throughout the day. These were piping fresh with excellent texture and flavor. Then the ice cream, also home-made on site, has wonderful flavors and textures. The serving in a waffle bowl or cone comes with three small scoops, so you can try up to three different flavors. We like to try for variety, so it is nice to get samples of so much at such an affordable rate. We tried Strawberry Cheesecake, Butter Pecan, Coconut, Peach Cobbler, Mint Chocolate Chip, Banana Cream. All of it was delicious. Looking forward to...

Just discovered this beautiful ice cream shop in Oxford. Family went out for a Father's Day treat. We had the strawberry waffle bowl, cookies and cream waffle bowl with wet walnuts, and son had a cookies and cream milkshake. Oh my goodness, it was all soooo very delicious. We could taste the freshness of strawberries in the cream. The waffle cones were so light and fresh. The milkshake was so smooth and tasty. This will be our new spot for ice cream .
