I have been eating tacos my entire life. I have eaten them all over the world and all of the US. I have eaten amazing tacos, but mostly average.
It is very hard to find a good street taco place, especially without driving hours. I found an amazing place in Los Angeles, except I didn't feel like driving the 60-90 minutes there. I have done it, just to go eat tacos. I had a closer place, but that place has been going down the hill for years. I figured I'd try a new place.
What a disappointment this place was. I trusted the reviews, but I should have known something was off, considering they close at 10 pm. No reputable, and good tacos truck or stand closes this early.
Anyway, I tried the asada, chorizo, and cabeza. The meats were just OK, definitely not worth driving 40 minutes. Add the price, and I wouldn't walk across the street for them. They have no salsas outside, and the portions are average, but not the prices. Considering the location and the food, they shouldn't charge so much. The tortillas were barely heated, and for tacos, they should be toasted to keep them from getting saugy. Everything was super salty, and I like salt. The salsas, too, were average.
The tacos weren't horrible, but not worth it. I could have stopped at any other tacos place much closer, for similar tacos. I could have gone to any fast food place and paid less and have been more satisfied.

Read moreStopped here because of reviews and location is close to home. Menu was diverse with multiple choices from tacos, chili rellenos, tostadas, etc. Wife ordered three carne asada tacos plus side of beans. I ordered a tostada and one taco of lengua. Meat in tacos was flavorful and plentiful and was served with grilled onions on the side plus onions and salsa either red or green on top. Wife loved the red salsa while I thoroughly enjoyed the green salsa. Wife said the red salsa was a perfect spiciness. Corn tortillas were good. You also get slices of cucumber plus sliced lemons. Ladies working in truck were very nice and friendly. Truck is parked on the South side of the Shell gas station. Wife said this is her new favorite taco place. We both recommend El Forastero for good reasonably priced...
Read moreIf you're hesitant about taco trucks or fearful of getting a bad meal; you definitely don't have to worry about this truck. I'm always weary of reviews from people claiming they're eating food all over the world or drive 45min to eat. Real working people don't do that or have the time, this place isn't for the bourgeois. The food here is delicious and as close to Grandma's as you're going to get.
I've been in search of the perfect Chile Reno burrito for years. I am close to ending my search. This is year 6 of my search, and El Forastero is tied for 1st place so far. For now, at least in Ventura county, it's 1st place.
This truck is my weekly go to for a fresh fast meal. Thank you, Victor, for the great food and wonderful...
