I cannot say anything bad about the food itself, because everything I've eaten there is fresh and tasty. My reasons for giving a low rating is because they only accept cash and either the person taking the order can't write a ticket or the person preparing the order can't read it, but I've had to send back more food than I care to remember because they put tons of onions and cilantro or drown it in hot sauce. I specifically ask for very little or none so I can add my own liking but I feel like if I'm being singled out, though I am sure others have the same complaint. I like to taste my food not have it drowned out by onions and cilantro. If they finally start getting orders right and take cards or electronic payments, I will be more than happy to change my ratings. I think if you only take cash, it's because you don't want a paper trail for reporting your income and don't want to pay the right amount of taxes for your income and everything else including employees tax an insurance. I'm not saying they are doing anything wrong and need to be investigated, I'm saying that "cash only" gives the appearance that that's what's going on. Besides they are losing business and income by not taking cards and it inconveniences their clients that dont carry cash, they do have a cash ATM on premises but that costs to use and may be owned by the restaurant so they can doubledip in your pocket. So it is questionable in my opinion, but my opinion should not be a reason for you to enjoy...
Read moreThis used to be my go to taco place in town however over the last year the quality has decreased in different areas:
The meat quality is lower. Very fatty and salty. Very little and not fresh cilantro is used My to go quesadilla fell apart when I opened the foil it came with and had practically no cheese except for at the center of the slices (see picture). The cheese that was in the quesadilla was very sparse and an odd unmelted consistency
The service has become very apathetic. I called to provide feedback, assuming I would not be offered a refund on anything because they are cash only and don’t provide receipts. In the past local restaurants have been responsive to feedback because they want to maintain their quality and keep their customers, but not here. The woman who answered cut me off and placed me on hold.
I would not recommend take out, but eating in would probably result in better quality food since you can walk it back to the counter if needed.
Their old vibrant atmosphere with music playing on the cd machine was great and their home made chips used to set them apart. Now the machine is gone. No music is playing. The family who works there seems to be anywhere else. And their chips seem...
Read moreSad to say not my favorite taco and burritos place, not any more. I used to go to this place at least once a week. 3 weeks ago around 10:00am I placed an order and specifically requested 6 asada breakfast burritos and drove to Thousand Oaks to deliver for my work crew. When I got there they started eating the burritos and found out all were regular asada burritos not breakfast. I called and they asked me to take them back and of course I didn’t I just decided to let it go as I had no time, but again on Tuesday I called and repeated my order a few times saying BREAKFAST BURRITOS de asada, when I got to Camarillo, same situation they served regular asada burritos and I called immediately to let them know what had happen and this was not the first time. The lady on the phone kept saying my order said regular burritos and I told her I didn’t care what they wrote down, I had specifically mention the word Breakfast multiple times. But again they wanted me to drive back from work with the burritos. Were they going to pay for my time and gas? Worst service ever. It doesn’t matter what you order but what the employee decides to write down...
