NO CULTURAL COMPETENCY- POOR SERVICE BY MANAGEMENT-FOOD NOT COOKED RIGHT at this establishment. This restaurant came highly recommended by the locals in Pagosa. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but positive. We DID have a good server, but the food was NOT up to par. We ordered 3 house specials which consisted of 2 Delmonico Steak plates, a Lamb Chop plate, and a regular order of Chicken Piccata without mushrooms. We received all 4 plates at the same time and the steaks were very raw and needed to be sent back. My in laws ordered Ahi-tuna and another Lamb Chop plate, since the Lamb Chop plate was cooked properly. Upon return of the two plates-The Tuna plate was prepared great and was given compliment. The second Lamb Chop Special was very raw and chewy. The server offered to reheat the lamb chops as he too saw that they were raw. My elderly mother in law said she was "grossed out" and did not want to eat them anymore. I asked the server if he could check the C02 on the soda because mine was flat. The customers from a neighboring table stated theirs was also flat. The server left and returned stating he checked the C02and did not know what was going on. He did offer bottled root beer, but I declined. When it was time to leave my mother in law asked the server to take her plate and remove that meal from the check. He said he would see what he could do and sent over the manager. She abruptly walked over and said, "I don't know what's going on over here but I've already had to take 168 dollars off this table and I'm not taking ANYTHING else off!" She was extremely rude, condescending, and I'm going to go out on a limb and claim RACIST! Mom tried to politely explain that she had a recent medical issue that required caution when it came to raw meat. The manager rudely interrupted and talked over her, stating "well if you have a medical condition you need to order your food well done". She walked away from the table and sent another server back with the check. It is very shocking that a person in a position of leadership could think it was okay to #1 try to pass off substandard plates of food, #2 provide poor customer service when the food was declined, #3 become rude and disrespectful toward customers that just wanted to pay their bill and for food that was eaten. Then as part of our party was leaving and two of us were walking to the register, a staff member stated "oh they ARE coming up to pay." People should not be treated this way. Shame on the leadership and example this woman is presenting to her staff and racist behavior toward people of color. Our money is just as green as...

We were served by Corey, he was very knowledgeable, friendly, & was present if we needed anything. The other staff were also friendly & all worked together clearing the table of used dishes to bringing out the meals.
It’s July, we sat outside, at first appearance it looked crammed-in and loud. After we sat down that feeling went away. We had plenty of room & even though other tables around us were in deep conversations, our table was still able to converse with one another.
Met with the owner, she was very nice as well. We arrived about an hour till close & I even noticed another table arrive 15min till close, the staff was eager to have us enjoy our meals. We never felt rushed or saw annoyance on any faces (I saw that the night before at a place I’ll never go to)
The appetizers looked good, wish I would have tried. We order a Delmonico, pork chop, chicken parmigiana, & a key lime pie & a zango for dessert. The guest who ordered the pork chop requested it to be well done, it was still tender & juicy. The steaks were a medium with a mushroom glaze (they have 2 additional toppings you can add to your steak).
The key lime was made fresh in house & was on point. I’m not a fan of cheesecake, but The zango will now be...
Read moreI made a reservation for our anniversary, we are locals and until last night City Hall was our favorite expensive restaurant in Pagosa Springs. First, the appetizer. The crab cakes were black on one side. Burnt. The kitchen knew this but decided to serve them burnt side down as if we wouldn't know. Really? Sent them back and had them remade. Second, my dinner. I was considering a dish wrapped in bacon so I asked the waiter if the bacon would be cooked well. I was assured it would be. When my meal arrived the bacon was either black (burnt) or completely raw. I sent my meal back again and to be honest, by that time I didn't trust anyone in the kitchen. At no time did the manager Brian ever come over to apologize for our awful experience. Before we left I went to talk to Brian to ask why he didn't feel the need to talk to us, especially since we were one of only 2 tables there. He then explained that he didn't believe that there was anything wrong with the food that was served. I then explained to him that he doesn't get to have an option about what I find palatable. He walked away from me without any remorse. Needless to say, we will never be back. Note to you City Hall Cafe, Brian needs to find a new career....
