As a bar, this place is great. They have a decent selection of local beer, a big, dog friendly outdoor area and excellent service. Our waitress was super nice and did a fantastic job. Where the place falls flat is the food. My wife and I both ordered burgers. I got mine with fries and she got onion rings. Everything came out burnt. All of it. And it took forever to get it. The burgers were dry, tough and well charred. They weren’t so much burgers as burnt offerings. The fries were cooked hard. But the onion rings really took the overcooking game to the next level. I’ve never attended culinary school, and I’ve never worked at a Michelin Starred restaurant, but I’m pretty sure onion rings shouldn’t be black. So if you’re just looking for a place to unwind, hang out with friends and have drink, then I highly recommend this place. What I don’t recommend is ingesting anything that comes out of the kitchen.

This is my second visit to The Break Room. So far this is the best food I've found in Pagosa. This time I ordered the Hatch green chile burger and onion rings. I'm not a ranch dressing fan but their ranch and crispy onion rings are like a meal in themselves. The burger was perfectly seasoned, accented by the peppers and a rich cheddar. The jalapeño sourdough made for an amazing bun and so delicious I would eat it on its own. Be aware that service and food will take a while. Come prepared to sit a while and relax. The woman working the bar was also waiting and bussing tables and refilling drinks. Be sure to leave a generous tip. Edit: I had to head back to the Break Room this summer while in Pagosa. It's still just as good and deservedly quite popular.

1, good service and very friendly staff that is down to earth people. Was greeted coming in and willing to answer my questions. 2, between myself and the family we had a solid selection of the menu. 3, spinach dip was creamy and cheesey. Had just enough chips for dipping and was tasty. 4, chicken tenders where moist and well seasoned. Fresh to boot. 5, philli cheese stake was awesome. Cooked well, just the right amount of spice. 6, steak was good. However asked for medium still came on as well done. Aka no pink. Despite that was still very lucky. I have tried several places in Pagosa and seems to be an issue in all the restaurants we have tried. Minus 1 star. 7, beer selection was good, and still taste fresh. Overall will come back.

We came after seeing all the great reviews for a dog friendly brewery with good food. Sadly it did not deliver. They had none of their personal or local brews available which was disappointing.

The large shaded patio was the best part. A large dog was wandering around off leash towards the end of our visit and went inside making me think it’s a frequent visitor. If it hadn’t stalked and made aggressive moves towards us and our dogs we wouldn’t have cared.

The food was 50/50. My chicken sandwich was nice and moist but served on the wrong bun. The pizza on the other hand was burnt to a crisp and inedible. Even the cheese was a hard shell. The loaded fries were okay, good fries and queso but the bacon was once again really burnt and the green chile was cold.

Servers were nice but they had to comeback multiple times because the kitchen hadn’t told them they were out of something.

All in all it felt like a joint being ran by nice but clueless kids.

Edit in response to owner: The pizza was beyond crispy. It was charred black to the point the cheese had resolidified. If that is your standard fine, but you should note that on the menu. Based on other reviews this is a consistent issue. True this was coming off a holiday weekend, so I understand running out of items. My frustration was that it took thirty minutes after ordering to be told so. And the clueless kids I referred to was management that did not actively communicate or manage, not the waitstaff who I mentioned were nice...

Our order took an hour. We made light of it with the girl taking orders as she apologized for being backed up. We were understanding and literally said "Take your time. We know how food service goes. It's not your fault." A few minutes later, another young lady (I suppose the manager) came out of the back and yelled at us in front of the whole the entire room. It got quiet and like a scene out of some old west movie where the saloon piano-man stops mid-song and the whole room turns to watch the scene unfold. She started spewing out how they had no cook on duty, had a small grill (and on and on) to which we were repeating "It's ok. It's ok." She just got louder and louder talking over us. Then to our shock she started all out hollering at us saying "I don't appreciate you being nasty to my workers." then stormed off. We looked at each other in disbelief while several other patrons also looked on in shock. A minute later she dumped our food on the table in front of us and stormed off again. We returned the food for a refund (not wanting to eat food made by someone obviously angry at us) but then upon looking at the receipt saw she double charged us. In short, unbelievably rude service. Not sure if the food's any good. (Sorry) We never got the chance to try it. I've never experienced belligerence to this extent in any service setting. The owners need to haul in a "come to Jesus" moment at their next staff...

2 stars simply for the manager’s apology and offering a discount, otherwise I would have rated 1.

Chose this place based on great reviews here on google. Arrived and was told it would be a 45 minute wait for food. Okay, no big deal. Sat down and it took over 20 minutes just to get drinks and take our dinner order. Honestly, we should’ve left then. Waited over an hour and a half total for our food (4 meals, not a huge order). After waiting, we were told that they were out of the 2 sides we ordered. My husband’s wings had a hair in them. I went in to ask for the food to go as we had a fussy baby who had patiently waited for the 90+ minutes. The waitress gave me attitude and said “well the food is almost ready.” Okay cool, I still don’t want to sit here and eat it. No one ever checked on us, offered to refill our drinks, apologized for the wait, anything. The manager brought our food and boxes out and we had to box our food ourselves. When I gave him the feedback, he apologized and gave us a discount. He told us that they had been super busy and had a lot of rushes. Well, when we got there and the whole time we had waited it was pretty quiet. I get being busy, but your restaurant should still be functional. Overall will not be returning. Some of the worst...
