A note on the won ton soup: it's good, but in the Chinese restaurants I grew up with in China Town in Seattle, there was a bit of mushroom put into the broth. That gives it a more complicated and enjoyable flavor. A few slices of green onion would kick it up a notch. Don't go if you're looking for good breath food...are you kidding?
The other note on the won ton (and this is just 70 years of Chinese food gorging talking here) The won ton wrappers are a bit thick and ever so slightly al dente. In the classic (Seattle and SF) joints I'm accustomed to, the won tons are thinner and cooked a bit past al dente. Toss in a few mushrooms, a tiny bit of green onion and cook for a few more minutes (5?) and I'd be in more often than once a month, or so.
Don't go here because you're expecting Tai Tung (in Seattle). No, this is a fine buffet style place in the outback of East Texas... The sauces are adequate to good and the experience is a nice change from the usual assortment of BBQ, chicken, and Mexican joints that are the option. Friendly staff, I'd add.
Time your visit for a weekday when there's a lot of people coming through, and come in halfway through lunch. Because any damn fool knows if you go to a buffet-style place at 3 PM after the lunch crowd has gone back to the grind, but before dinner folks come in, you won't have the same experience as the rush hour eaters.
Desserts are simple, to a bit institutional. But hey, what IS pudding and high carbs about? Stick to keto and have some more lemon chicken with another cup of won ton...
Read moreI came here with my family two days ago. They wanted to stop here for dinner since they swore they had really good crawfish on their buffet. At first I had high hopes for the place and things seemed to be going okay... but then, they ran out of crawfish on the buffet when we got there along with lomein and several other options. We literally all sat down and waited for more food to be brought out. The crawfish never did come back out though! We kept checking on it and they kept saying they know but they never brought it out like they said they would. We actually waited an hour for it as the guys had wanted it and our ticket was $120 so we may as well make it worth it right? No. It never came. We left highly disappointed. Also, their bathrooms smelled so bad there!! I don't know what they have going on in terms of plumbing issues or what but I had to assist my 4 year old in the restroom and my jacket fell down when I was trying to hold it over my noes and then I had to run to the next stall to get sick! It sounds dramatic but I'm being serious. I literally got sick!! They need to fix that! I honestly never want to come back...
Read moreKing Buffet?? MORE LIKE KING TRASH!! THIS WAS THE WORST CHINESE FOOD RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! If I could rate -10 stars, I WOULD. My entire family went there to see if it was any good. It was not worth the 50 dollars we payed for it. -The rice and noodles tasted like they were dumped in dishwashing liquid! -The batter in my cake tasted like it had been mixed with cigarettes. -Pizza had absolutely no sauce, and was as dry as the desert, as well as the rolls. -BUNNY FUR WAS IN THE FOYER. -NO REFILLS, YOU HAVE TO PAY AN EXTRA $1.25 TO GET ANOTHER DRINK, and you need the drink to swallow the food.. -Pretty sure the skewer meat came from the squirrels in my backyard. -Icecream was watered down. -Jello- WHO CAN'T MAKE JELLO?! LITERALLY THE EASIEST THING IN THE WORLD, AND THEY STILL SCREWED UP!
Usually I don't write bad reviews for restaurants nor hotels, but this place was so bad, I HAD to write one to warn anyone about this place. I don't understand why some people in Palestine like this place.
Asian City is where it's at. At least the food in there CAN BE DIGESTED and it never...
