Dong Hae Seafood 동해참치 — Restaurant in Palisades Park

I'm really disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. My three friends and I all fell ill with vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramping, along with other symptoms like low-grade fever or chills, headache, and muscle aches. The symptoms started 12 hours to one day after dinner and lasted for several days. I even had to visit the doctor, who diagnosed me with a stomach virus, likely norovirus, which has left me feeling sick for days.

When we reached out to the restaurant to inform them of what happened, they were unable to do anything to rectify the situation and instead suggested that we reach out to their insurance company if we incurred any medical expenses. I was also disappointed to learn that the restaurant would not be refunding the money ($337) we spent that night, especially given how severe our illness was. Instead, the restaurant offered to provide us with another dinner, but, hell, I'm not sure I feel comfortable dining there again after such a distressing experience and seeing other reviews in here on google.

The restaurant denied any previous issues when I contacted them to report my illness. In fact, I found a review from two weeks prior that described a similar problem, which suggests that the restaurant was not truthful with me. As a customer, it's concerning when businesses fail to take responsibility for their mistakes, especially when it comes to our safety and well-being. It's important for restaurants to be transparent and accountable, so I'm disappointed that this wasn't the case here. Who can take a responsibility on me losing a few days of work and spent my sick days?

Additionally, the restaurant's policy on addressing potential food-related illnesses seems inadequate, requiring a high threshold of 30% of patrons experiencing symptoms before they will take action. This raises concerns about the safety and well-being of customers, and I hope the restaurant will take steps to improve their policies and procedures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Overall, I'm really really disappointed with my experience at this restaurant and hope that others don't have to go through what my friends and I went through. I am still sick as of today...

Update....The restaurant made someone to review right after me attack my review (you can review yours not review my review duh). And restaurant comment everubody else but mine. Not even one appology. And still did not reach to me with insurance information where I can ask medical fee. I would not trust food from here not taking any...

WORST restaurant I've been to in my life! Don't waste your time and money here. 2 people ordered from here, and both got sick later that day (one with nausea and upset stomach, and the other with nausea for multiple days and violent vomiting in the middle of the night). We had had a lot of leftovers and called to get a refund, but they said that we have to go to the hospital to get bloodwork done that proves that we were sick from their food. We had emptied everything out at that point and was feeling better and definitely did not want to make an unnecessary trip to the hospital with covid. Then they LIED about agreeing to get us a refund and took our credit card number and info. We never got our refund, and when we called weeks later to ask about this, they denied agreeing to give us a refund and kept avoiding our calls saying the owner is out and that he will return our call when he gets back. They never got back to us, of course, and despite making multiple calls, they never apologized and were extremely rude and unprofessional, talking among themselves calling us unreasonable and rude while we could still hear everything they were saying.

I saw another review from a customer who had exactly the same experience, so this kind of terrible service must be how they routinely deal with problems....

I come here for dinner every two months at least and i always loved this place for variety of appetizers, a sort of side dish called Skidashi. Not to mention that they had the best sashimi and sushi in town until my last visit here on August 22, Monday. Three of us dined and ordered the combo which they served the combination of sashimi and variety of freshly caught sea creatures like sea cucumber, sea squirt, abalone and etc. We all enjoyed it very much, especially one of my friends and I had most of sashimi which was served ptetty much at the end of dinner. Unfortunatly, him and I had very rough next day sitting on the toilet with stomach ache. I am not sure what to do on this as of now. My friend and I suspect that something was wrong with the plate of sashimi they brought at the end of dinner as they usually serve this in the beginning of dinner...
