I'm so happy that there's a Korean fried chicken spot in the desert. It's in a good location, in a plaza with various businesses and a grocery store next door. There's a large parking lot in front.
This was our first time here, I thought it was just takeout only but I was surprised that it had more of a sit down feel. We just ordered to go anyways. We ordered the half whole chicken (8 pc) Golden Original and the small boneless (8pc) Soy Garlic.
We waited inside for our food, wait time wasn't long at all. It was about 15 to 20 minutes. I liked the ambiance indoors, there were many tables to choose from. And I loved how there was a US Open tennis match playing.
The chicken was pretty good. I really liked the Soy Garlic. It was saucy, but not too saucy. Texture was wonderful. The soy garlic sauce was a nice sweet and savory mix. And the Golden Original was good too. Texture was perfect, it had a nice crispy and crunchy outside. We also got the pickled radishes on the side, and it paired very nicely with the chicken. One thing I will say, is that I wish the Golden Original's batter had a little bit more flavor. Although it had amazing texture, it tasted bland to me. I was left wanting a little more every bite.
We had a great experience and I'd definitely come back again to eat inside. Service was helpful...
Read morei live local to pd so when i get cravings of korean chicken i usually go to the bb.q locations in the oc area. i would definitely say the chicken in oc is better by the mile, the chicken over there has more flavor and is more cripsy and airy. the service and environment in the pd location were good, employees were kind and i felt like i was in a korean chicken pub. i got my order to go and i got the soy garlic and spicy galbi boneless as well as rosé tteokbokki and cheesling fries. my mom bit into a piece of the galbi chicken and it looked really old to the point of molding. other than that the only complaint is that i wish there was more flavoring/sauce added to the chicken, and that it was crispier as the chicken came out “fresh”. the cheesling fries and tteok were pretty good the cheese on the tteok looked like someone put 3 cheese blend on top😭. i will still come back but the piece of chicken we recieved really threw me off and caused us to throw it away. i definitely prefer the oc bb.q but would still come back. if youre the owner please be more aware of how fresh the chicken...
Read moreFood: it's a chain but the food is solid. It's not reinventing the wheel in the KFC market but it does a solid job for what it is. Similar to what you get at a food court in a Korean grocery store. They're brand new to the Palm Desert area and their service processes are still getting the wrinkles ironed out. They'll eventually get their ordering and supplies underway. I've been there several times since they opened and every day I've been there, items have been unavailable or sold out.
Atmosphere: fairly generic sterile dining area.
Service is still being worked out. There were a couple of workers that have it together and probably will end up being managers at some point. There was a gal with a nose ring that had the service perfected and a worker named Alyssa that embodied the personality and care you'd want as a customer facing representative.
Sadly they don't have any fun Asian sodas but they do have soju and other items to try.
This isn't a date place but if you want to scratch that Korean fried chicken...
