Frenchie's Bar — Restaurant in Palm Springs

I went here with my cousin tonight (09/01/2025) for a drink . Immediately upon arrival the owner was so aggressive for NO reason . Just nasty . My cousin forgot her ID so we gave him a picture which he took . We ordered our first round , paid and went to go mingle . Upon returning to the bar for round two I informed him that this one is on me but I don’t have my physical card , I asked him if I may use TAP . He refused even though I saw him allow other customers to use it . Instead of accommodating me like a business owner should he sat there in front of me and made a scene so that he made sure to let the entire bar know “the shot is only $11 “ and that I should hurry up so I can leave . He stood in front of me staring me down while I anxiously shuffled through my bag For my card after I obviously said I did not have it. I asked him what all of the micro, aggressive comments and sly remarks was about to which he told me that he had a black girlfriend so there’s no way he was acting funny because we were Establishment that night. . Dating someone different doesn’t mean you are an ally. An ally would not have treated two young, beautiful and polite young women the way we were treated tonight. Furthermore, he even threatened to call the police over the $11 shot . All of this happened within 3 minutes of PURE RACISM , impatience and lack of customer service . We Had absolutely no intention of running off on our tab . He didn’t even give us a full 60 seconds before he started embarrassing us in front of the whole bar because I was looking for my card . When he was met with my resistance, he lost his patient very quick, which is what racist people do when they are confronted as expected so he walked away and the bartender working with him tonight, which was Female quickly and easily pulled up the TAP Option on the register for me to pay with no problem , which means that we were only being taunted by him in an attempt to embarrass us for doing nothing except being black . We were dressed appropriately, and we were certainly polite . The only thing we did wrong tonight was be BLACK . OUR money is not welcome at this establishment . I am so disappointed....

I really love this bar. The first time I came here was in the morning and the bartender was super friendly and welcoming to a newcomer. She also rocks a bloody mary. I started coming more often and realized it was a special place after observing the bartender,Eddie help an older woman in a kind and gentle manner. Soon after that I met his wife and fellow bartender Pam who is absolutely wonderful. You have to check out her clever tee shirts. I have to say I fell in love with the place when after several months, I finally broke through the rough exterior of bartender Ray. He comes across as a carmudgen but is a marshmallow underneath. He also knows more about music than anyone I've ever met. Don't tell anyone but he is also an amazing singer. Carl is a newer bartender and is super nice as well. They have a beautiful outdoor area with open jams on Sunday that are amazing. I've met some really cool people here but have also learned to be careful if a regular takes a disliking to you. Frenchy's is an acquired taste.... The outside in the back Biergarten is absolutely beautiful. Even spelling Beer Garden that way does not seem appropriate. Last time I was there there were TVs outside to enjoy sporting events. The outside is a very large enclosed area, beautifully decorated with plants lots of very comfortable chairs and benches to enjoy music, sporting events or whatever you care to do....and of course drink. It is been my experience that their prices are phenomenal and their drinks are strong enough to be greatly enjoyed especially...
