I've been going to Joey D's for several years, but I will never go back after tonight! We have starting going back out in order to support local business, but I soooooooo regret going to Joey D's in Palmetto tonight! There was so much that went wrong tonight that I don't even know where to start. My family of 4 was sat at a small table and given water that had a rotten taste. Although this already seems bad, we just decided to order juice for our kids ages 2 and 7, and an adult drink for my wife and I. The juice didn't get delivered to the kids and when the adult drinks came out, one was placed in front of our 2 year old daughter who had immediately knocked it over. The alcohol was spilt all over everything and it completely drenched my clothes. We had a number of other problems tonight after this took place, but the manager wasn't willing to come to check on our table. After we left the restaurant, I called to speak with the manager and she explained that she had known about the situation and that she wasn't interested in coming to check on our family. I felt bad for our waitress because we she was very nice and seemed genuinely concerned, so I decided to call the restaurant to speak with the manager about what had happened right after we left tonight. The manager (who did not give me her name) said that she knew of the situation and decided not to visit our table. She had a disrespectful attitude toward me and acted like she did me some kind of favor when she said "you got your 10% vet discount for your one item". When I explained that our experience tonight was unacceptable, she asked me what I had expected her to do about it. When I replied that she was the leader in charge and I expected for her to do her job, she hung up on me. My family and I have frequented Joey D's regularly since 2007 at the Cortez location, and we have gone to the Palmetto location at least 100 times since it opened a few years ago. For the record, when I take my family out to eat, I don't care about getting 10 percent off of an item. What I expect is to be given food that is safe for my family and I to eat and to be treated with dignity and respect. For the record, I know that things go wrong all the time, but I'm no longer going back because of the way the manager acted...

Sadly I have to update my previous review three years ago. A Group of us went in last week and 3 of us ordered the Italian Beefs, no peppers. The aju was hotter than hell. We spoke with the manager who immediately approached us with an attitude, We were just trying to provide our opinion and let them know that their Italian beef "aju" tasted so much different than before and was tooooio spicey to enjoy. She still had a chip on her shoulder but said she would let management know as they were experiencing with the aju. She said she would let the owners know. With the attitude she had I didn't think she would so I called back a couple days later to try to talk to the owners and was given her again. I immediately recognized her attitude . I explained once again that I was calling to let the owners know. I was told they were informed and made adjustments. I went in five days later for another italian beef and asked for it dry. The aju sauce was in a separate cup. I dipped my finger in it to taste and once again it was fire. I'm very disappointed as I have visited this joey d"s many times over the years. I called back again as that same manager was there when I picked up my beef. I asked for the manager and the kid that took my order said "he was the manager that day" I've gone there enough to know the wasn't true, but I explained it to him, he said the owner was in and would tell them. I've lost faith in them. What a shame because I know they are independently owned and will need to go to another one of their establishments as their food is normally great. We paid close to $200 that night, never once asked for our money back, just was trying to provide feedback to help. So disappointed
My review threee years ago: Amazing...
Read moreI had been to their location in bradenton by accident and enjoyed lunch so I had to take my wife and see if their palmetto location which is closer to us was just as good.
I was not disappointed. The waitress was very nice, the location is clean, and the food was excellent. I was afraid with it being Sunday and football that the location would be crazy busy and while it did start filling in the staff handled it great and genuinely seemed to enjoy working at the restaurant.
We tried 3 appetizers, nothing fancy or homemade but they were fried nicely and did not taste of burnt oil. We had the jalapeno poppers, mac and cheese bites and the calamari.
Here is where I feel they shine. I love their pizza. I am really picky on what pizza I eat because the red water most pizza places try to pass for sauce is just eh but at Joey ds it is chunky, it is flavorful, and the star of their dish. The mix of garlic and acid from the tomatoes just plays off it self so nicely that you want to dive back in for another bite. The deep dish pizza had a nice crust and their toppings were fresh. My wife got the white speciality pizza. It was good as well with a crunchy crust. Because the pizza is made to order expect a few minutes for a wait but it is so worth it and you can ask for light sauce etc.
Do not be fooled by their sizes. A personal pizza is way more than I could eat and I feel a medium in one sitting could feed 3 at least. So if you love leftovers you will love this place. If I had to choose between giordanos in orlando or joey ds I would choose joey ds no questions asked!
Always nice to leave a restaurant with a...
