DO NOT get the Baked Potato!!!
We came on a Sunday afternoon, it was packed. I ordered the rib tips with coleslaw and baked potato for $18.55. My partner ordered the half slab of ribs with a baked potato and corn on the cob $18.99. We ordered soft drinks $3.59 each.
The baked potato was super hard like a rock so hard that when I tried to fluff it up with the fork it wouldn't even break. They need to look into how they are baking the potato cuz it was terrible.
Even the baked potato at the Wendy's fast food tastes way better than this one. I don't know if they just didn't bake it thoroughly but they really need to look into that because it was not just my potato but it was my partners as well. Both were hard like a rock. And the sour cream they gave us was semi-frozen that it was hard to squeeze it out of the bag.
In terms of the ribs the half slab of ribs was extremely tender and absolutely delicious! The rib tips were okay but they weren't as tender and they were slightly chewy. The portion for the rib tips was very generous though. But next time I'm just going to go with the slab of ribs.
Also the dish comes with slices of toast. This time around the toast was super plain. We ordered this exact dish on a prior occasion as a to-go order. And the toast we received was garlicky and buttery and very tasty. But the toast we received as part of our dish when dining in on this occasion was just a plain toasted piece of bread it had no buttery or garlicky flavor to it. Disappointed.
In terms of the service, we were served within 10 to 15 minutes of ordering which was pretty quick and the slab of ribs/rib tips did come out piping hot.
They have a parking lot which is great and the inside decor is interesting and fun.
We drove all the way from the south loop of Chicago near Chinatown to come here. We will be returning for the slab of ribs if we get a craving but we won't be getting the pork rib tips nor the...
Read moreWow where do I start??? Well for starters this use to be one hell of a damn good rib place to get grub that wouldn't break ya.... Boy oh boy has that changed! Took my Mother there for her 74th birthday as she always LOVED the pit! Before Dad passed in 2020 we would go here all the time and absolutely adored every meal there. Welllll lets fast forward to 2025 my oh my how times have changed.... The prices my lawrd 27.99 for a slab of ribs.... Wow that Google quote of 20-30 dollars a person needs to be updated I'd say more around the lines of 30-40 dollars a person if you come for what they are famous for.... RIBS! Anywho we had to rethink are choices as 60 dollars for 2 slabs of ribs seems kinda ridiculous... Mom ordered a bbq pork sandwich and I decided on the rib tips. What to drink you ask??? A ice cold beer seems choice. 4.95 for 1 bottle of 12oz Budweiser 😧 your kidding right??? Thats awfully high for a bottle of beer to down your food in Cook County! We both ordered just one each and slowly sipped it till we left. The food well lets get to the food. My rib tips and Mothers sandwich came. I was like lets eat! The rib tips were luck warm I tried digging around to find some hot pieces in the middle and while I found a few slightly hotter rib tips I just couldn't believe how cold they were. I felt my Moms pork and that was cold as well. Its her birthday I didnt wanna complain and neither did she but I'm sorry I had to, The waitress who was very nice said she would take it back. Came back about 5 minutes later same meat as I could tell by the pieces.... There were scolding HOT, dry, and literally charrded like they took a torch to it. Wow www thanks. Cold food at least what was served to use, insanly high prices, and an all around bad experience will keep me from ever coming back. This is why I don't go to restaurants anymore. Stick to...
