Should have known. The little hole-in-the-wall spots inside strip malls are either horrible or wonderful. This place is definitely the latter!
Put an order in DoorDash and not only was it ready earlier than expected, but unlike some places Jr.s read the special instructions and actually followed them! So many places do not bother, but they delivered exactly what I wanted without the bit I am allergic to.
Got breakfast AND lunch so I did not have to bother later.
Breakfast: Custom omelet was larger than expected (they must use some BIG eggs) and the add-ins I chose were deliciously prepared. The eggs were fully cooked and well seasoned. Unlike a few places who use DoorDash locally and sent out runny eggs. The only thing which might have been nicer, was having jelly for the toast.
Lunch: Wow. Tater tots much? A LARGE number of tots with the order, bun was toasted and browned perfectly, lettuce and tomato still fresh and colorful, not pre-cut, discolored and wilty. The Pantego burger was wonderfully flavorful. Have to admit surprise when I bit into it because I somehow missed the 'jalapenos' part of the description. LOL As such burger was more than I could handle until I removed some of them. Had great flavor with them, so I left a few and just drank milk to calm the burn.
Overall great first experience, but it will not...
Read more5 Stars – Junior’s Grill: So Good, It Should Be Illegal (But Don’t Tell Pantego PD!)
If you find yourself in Pantego and don’t stop at Junior’s Grill, you might as well go ahead and turn yourself in to the Pantego Police for committing a food-related crime. This place serves up burgers so good they should come with a warning label—and I’d gladly do hard time for another bite.
The Burgers? Juicier than a small-town scandal and stacked higher than a lawyer’s bill. The onion rings? Crispier than a freshly pressed police uniform. And the milkshakes? So thick, even the Pantego PD might need backup to get through one.
The service is faster than a radar gun on Pioneer Parkway, and the folks behind the counter are friendlier than an officer letting you off with a warning. Whether you’re in for a Grilled Chicken Sandwich that’s more comforting than your grandma’s cooking or a Philly Cheesesteak that could convince a Yankee to move to Texas, you won’t leave hungry—or unhappy.
So next time you’re cruising through Pantego, make a pit stop at Junior’s Grill. It’s the only kind of “busted” you’ll...
Read moreStarted out okay but we were informed the prices on their website are NOT the prices for dining in. They have two separate price lists. So a side of onion rings bought online will be $2.25, whereas dine-in is $3.50 (4 count). Just be aware! Side note: sub onion rings instead of fries is $2 and a basket, $6.
I had the double double and my wife, the chili burger. They were okay. Seasoned well but dry. I read a review to get the tots in lieu of the fries. So we tried both. Tots were crispy but flavorless. Fries were seasoned well and fresh. Fries win. Onion rings were a different story... I would not recommend. Thin weak onions in likewise batter.
But the main reason for the 2 star instead of maybe a 3 star is the extra ranch we asked for... $.75 tacked on the bill. Not so much of a mention of a charge when we asked. $.75 for a half-filled ramekin, 1 maybe 2 tbsp. This on top of a $34 bill.
Since the server didn't tell us about the cost, we simply deducted from her tip. So, all good.
But overall, not impressed and most likely will not return, nor recommend for our...
