El Potro Mexican Cafe — Restaurant in Paola

I got a carry out from this lovely establishment like I do approximately once every couple weeks. Was on Thursday night? I picked up my food at 7:45 PM and keep in mind now that I live about 12 miles from town so I’m not right around the corner here by time I got home and got settled in and what not it was after nine before I finally went to have dinner. Not that big of a deal it was wrong. I had chicken instead of steak. big deal but then I was missing two of the sides and I was missing salsa. which i ate it but it wasn’t what I ordered. It wasn’t all there and was not correct. It was after they closed so I couldn’t do anything that night and the following morning I was going to call at 11 when they open but I figured I’d wait until after the lunch, rush or whatever and catch them early afternoon I wasn’t offended at this point. I wasn’t anything other than. hey next time I come in I’d like to get a couple side you shorted me and thought I d bring it to their attention that they messed up My order. I wasn’t trying to do anything wrong or take advantage of anyone. which I never would’ve felt that way until I actually got a man on the phone. His first thing out of his mouth was why didn’t you bring it back. well because I don’t live right around the corner and it was after hours. then he said why don’t you have it here at 11 when we opened. Well they screwed up my order I’m 12 miles from town not that big of a deal. I don’t need to make a special trip in the town. Why didnt you call and well I did after the lunch rush again thinking I’m being courteous. Not a big deal. This jerk named Angel was nice enough to flat out say how do we know that we screwed up your order if you cant bring it back into us and show us well that it was wrong. for one no big deal as a $12 meal or 14 bucks I guess with tax. I’m gonna save this food and not have dinner because you screwed up my meal and then had to bring it back the next morning and this and that. no way at one point he said there is nothing he could do for me and because I was just trying to get a free meal at this point. I am pissed that he had the audacity to talk down to me like that. like I’m a no good thief and I’m lying about the entire situation. You know he took it from me saying hey I’d like to get those couple sides you showed me no big deal, chicken or steak. who cares I eat the meal because I was hungry. I didn’t save it for the next day to bring it back Like he wanted me to. like are you freaking kidding me I’m 12 miles from town I was hungry I’m not gonna save it and bring it back the next day. Yes I ate. It was it right? No. not a big deal until this lovely gentleman essentially called me a thief and a liar. You know it’s pretty sad when a small town like this we need restaurants around for people to get out of their homes with family and friends and spend quality time together. you have some guy like this. That ruins it. You know it’s average food it’s not the best in the world, but hey it’s Local. It’s not all that. but that’s OK. It’s atmospheres is worth it when dining in. but it’s not killer it’s not great. it’s average then you get some jerk like this. They just totally made the place disgusting to me. I would advise you to definitely check your orders and when you see my little buddy angel tell him hi maybe he ll treat you with...

We came in Saturday night with our friends to eat. We all had received our meals except me. Had I not said anything I do not think that I would have gotten the rest of my Fajitas. Everything was good until my friend took a bite out of her taco and there was a long curly black hair in it. The waiter came and asked how everything was and she told him that there was a hair in her taco, both of us have previously worked in the food industry and it happens not a big deal. The part that really got me is when the manager came over not to say that he apologized, but instead told us that no one in the kitchen has long hair and then proceeded to look at me as if I had put the hair in my friends taco. Really did not set well with me, then as we are leaving there was a gentleman in the back that had long black hair. I am not trying to finger point here, but all that needed to be said was that he apologized, we did not need the explanation that no one back there did not have long black hair. Updating my review, my daughter and I usually go here about once a month. Usually there isn't any issues, foods good, but this experience left me unsure if I wanted to go back. We were seated, got chips/salsa. But we were not acknowledged for 20 minutes, and we did not get drinks, and I put our menus down at the front of the table so they knew we were ready to order. Someone was seated next to us, immediately serviced, got drinks, and their orders within 5 minutes of being seated. Yes they were looking at our table and looking around for a server to see what was going on. I've never walked out of a restaurant before, until today, my daughter left crying cause she really wanted to eat here. I did discuss with the server (at this point it had been 25 minutes) that we would be leaving because we did not receive drinks or service. This is a first, and we go here often.
