Fathers punished on Fathers Day… looking forward to another buffet by same owners of a couple others in the area. At arrival, the line outside was short but with no order of management, several entitled parties excused themselves through the crowd making locals second class. Once inside there was confusion but the fruit cart with large strawberries on board made it worth while. The overpriced cost of admission took its toll when the tray of red strawberries were replaced with cut up bananas and red sauce on top. When asked when more would be replenished, the reply from a second server was sorry, their all gone. I guess arriving at 5:15 p.m. was too late for the locals to enjoy what others did for the same price. The food was hot and the new kitchen produced clean food taste, I hope that if I return it would be the same. The server motioned for a refill an instead of bringing a picture of tea, or a second glass, he simply grabbed my glass. While watching him do a juggling act by stopping at 3 other tables and collecting refill glasses, I knew my meal was ruined. 7 glasses amongst them he disappeared in the back. 5 min. Later, a glass of tea appeared in front of me. Who’s glass??? Hard to say. Chances are, it was not mine. This has got to stop in places of service. I will from now on refuse to let the glass I was given disappear. A refill should be a new glass assumed clean or a pitcher brought to the table. How unsanitary must this practice be, just to generate tips. A fountain dispenser should be in place for the cost charged. Bad experience and management needs to learn what country they came to. The server did not understand the word “strawberries” and should learn the language before attempting this simple task. Sadly disappointed in this new Golden Apple, should be called...
Read moreI was excited when I heard that a new buffet that would be serving sushi, hibachi and other Asian dishes right in my neighborhood. I patiently waited for opening day to arrive, of course waited a few days after opening before going in for the first time. Today was the day and WOW did it disappoint. It was understand busy in the restaurant but we were seated rather quickly. However once seated another couple came to our table insisting it was theirs and turns out it was! They sat us where they just previously sat another couple. We then went to grab our first plate, naturally I went straight for the sushi personally I enjoy nigiri. The only nigiri available was the saddest toro I’d ever seen. A paper thin slice of fish on a mountain of rice, when consumed it tasted exactly how it looked, a piece of paper. Other sushi options were not diverse in the types of fish served. The hibachi station was essentially a HuHot without the frozen proteins. After half a plate consumed we thought it best to just leave. We went up to the counter to pay. We were visibly unhappy, hungry and disappointed. Due to the seating mix up earlier they couldn’t figure out where we were seated so we stood and waited to leave for around 15 minutes for them to figure out where we were seated and how much we owed. On our table was full drinks and a half eaten plate for each individual in our party. Keep in mind we had only been seated for around 15 minutes before making the decision to leave. They did not ask us if anything was wrong with our experience at all. It’s safe to say I will not be going back. If you’re looking for a less than satisfactory experience not only in atmosphere but also in any of the food feel free to...
Read moreVast selection and most things are really well prepared and seasoned, my favorite part was the mongolian grill, great selection of protein including crab meat which was superb. I could expand more about the food, but just trust me when I say you'll like it.
Now, for the part I think most people want to know, how does it compare to our well known China buffet in 114th and doge?
It is essencially the same, with one BIG difference, the quality of the food. The quality of the food and ingredients here is VERY SUPERIOR to China buffet. You can just tell, it almost feel like what you'd buy for your own house. The protein in the mongolian grill is unbelievably good quality for a buffet. So big win for Golden Apple over China buffet, only $2 extra will get vastly superior quality food.
All and all, China buffet better up their game or this new Chinese buffet will become more popular than they are. Only downside would be the location, nowhere near as centric as China buffet, but to me personally it is 100% worth the drive to come here instead of China buffet.
Golden Apple for the win, will be coming here at least once a month with my wife and tell all my friends about how good and high quality are (considering...
