This is my go-to place for all things craft related. This store on 71st Street is always clean, well-lit and organized. Prives are competative. Parking is rarely a problem and they have at least a dozen handicapped spaces. The staff is very helpful and courteous. They have a huge selection of acrylic paints most very inexpensive. I go there for inspiration and new ideas and I always find something unique to give as gifts or to decorate my own home. Their check out lines could be better manned, as more often than not, there is one check out line open and several people waiting to check out. The store could have better temperature control because it's always stuffy in warmer weather. I would shop much longer if it was a more comfortable temperature. My friends and I always leave with sweat on our brow, cutting our shopping short. But I do enjoy this store, especially around the holidays (winter) when the temp indoors is more comfortable. There are so many things to see here and their seasonal sections are second to none in my opinion. I highly...
Read moreGreat selection. Found the perfect frame for a picture I drew and at 50% off I was very happy. I saw fabric on clearance and found a couple patterns to purchase. The reason for the 3 stars was my interaction in the fabric department cutting desk. Carol was less than friendly. Firstly, she made a comment about how she's couldn't believe I would buy those particular fabrics (2 different stretch fabrics). After cutting the first one, I offered to fold it while she worked on the other and she got attitude and tossed it towards me. I told her I was just trying to help. When she was measuring the second one, she was pulling to stretch it out so my measured cut was short (confirmed when I measured at home) but I didn't want to make a scene and it was clearance, so I just waited for her to give me my fabric and ticket and left to checkout. The girl at checkout was very pleasant. Store was clean and...
Read moreIt was fine until I went to the check out. In the material department I had been chatting with an elderly lady, she was friendly kind person. When she checked out she went to use her discount the cashier said We don't have that anymore" was all she said. Not I'm sorry, she didn't say it nice very rude. I ALMOST left without buying this stuff but I bought it cause I promised someone I'd make them something. The elderly lady stood for a momment with her mouth open, paid for her stuff and left, without saying a word. Poor dear I felt bad for her. When this same cashier checked me out, after she was finished. I told her she was rude as hell to that elderly woman, she shrugged her shoulders. If she doesn't like her job quit! Hopefully she gets called out! I won't go back. Humm maybe I will just to...
