My family and I decided to dine at Casey Jones' this past weekend and we were very displeased with our experience. To begin, our waiter never introduced himself to us. We then ordered 2 bowls for the Chicken Corn Soup and we could only eat half a bowl, if that. The soup smelled and tasted terrible, so we put them at the edge of the table for our waiter. When our waiter came back, he never asked if there was anything wrong with the soup, he never tried to rectify our obvious displeasure with the soup. He just asked if he could take the bowls and away he went. The chicken salad my wife ordered came to the table without the chicken. Now our waiter did notice this and took it back to the kitchen right away, and brought the salad back with extra chicken, but I am unsure how the chicken was missed in the first place. When the salad finally came back to the table, the chicken smelled amazing but it tasted terrible. My wife could barely eat it and I did not enjoy the piece I tried either. The pulled pork sandwich I had was ok. The pork was still kind of tough with no flavor, and the birch-beer BBQ sauce that was on the sandwich did not help at all. My mother ordered the meatloaf and she could not finish that either. The mashed potatoes were hard and the meatloaf was tough. Unfortunately, I do not believe we will be returning to Casey Jones' if we return to the area and I am hesitant to recommend the restaurant.
UPDATE - I am updating my review from 1 to 2 stars. Unfortunately, I cannot change our experience at the restaurant nor can I change how we felt about the service and food after leaving. I realize that our experience may have been a one time situation and that no one is perfect. My star update is due to the care and passion the owner has shown me about his business. There are not many owners that I've seen who take the time to respond to reviews but this owner has. Due to this, we may visit the restaurant again if we are ever back in the...
Read moreHave never been a fan of the restaurant, but my mother and her husband are so I bite the bullet to take them there whenever we are in town.
This past weekend, was the absolute worst service possible, and we will never be back. We got there around 6 o’clock for dinner and the first thing I asked was if we had a reservation and I said no to which they said there was a bus coming in and it would likely be around an hour wait. So as we tried to figure out what we were gonna do, our first thought was let’s order takeout and look around the shop and then just go back to the hotel and eat. We went up and asked if we could place a takeout order and they said no they don’t do takeout orders this time of year and when there is a big group coming in. Mind you, the bus was not even there yet, by the time the bus got there and people placed orders we would’ve gotten our food and been gone. so then we decided let’s place a reservation for about an hour and go back to the hotel then return but at least then we would have a reservation in the event of another bus coming in. We went to place a reservation and they said they don’t take reservations this time of year. even though when we first walked in, we were asked if we had one and while we were waiting, trying to decide someone came in and said they had a reservation. There are no systems at this place, they make stuff up as they go along, there’s no professionalism. For me, I was fine with it. The thought of paying $21 for subpar shepherds pie or pot roast. is insane but again, my mother and her husband enjoy the place and being from four hours away they don’t get there often. if this place actually cared about customers, they would’ve sat us right then, we would’ve placed our order and been eating before the bus even pulled in the parking lot. It wasn’t as if the bus was there and people were being sat at their tables. The place was not even half full at the time. They are simply lazy and...
Read moreI have a skin condition that causes me to breakout in hives when exposed to sunlight. I wear longsleeve shirts, floppy hats, and cotton gloves with fingers cut off year round. My 87 year old mother was born with a problem with her eyes, she is court declared blind. When we got to the restaurant we found it only 1/3 full, many empty tables. They have seating on both sides of the building. One side was in sunshine & the other in the shade. The 2 hostesses were going to sit us in the sunny side & we requested to be in the shade. They flat out refused to accommodate our request stating their 'rules' were to alternate seating customers, one side then the other. No amount of explaining our conditions convinced them to seat us in the shade. So I said we'd wait for the next group to come in so they could go ahead of us and be seated in the sun. They said that was ok. When the next group came along they said "our friends are over there, we'd like to sit with them". It was the shady side and the hostesses were going to allow them to sit where they requested. I called them out on it and was just shrugged off. I was getting up to leave when one of the waitresses intervened on our behalf and told the two it was fine that we sat in the shade. Thank you Sandy! I'm glad I stayed because the food was very good and Sandy was an excellent server! I had the fish & chips and mother had the Monte Cristo sandwich. We both added a dinner salad to our meals & she added onion rings. It was very yummy in spite of the reception at the hostess station! We spent over $50 and the hostesses were going to allow us to leave! Even though the food was good, because the treatment we received soured my experience & I'll...
