Gus's Deli BBQ And Grill — Restaurant in Paramount

I went here specifically for meatloaf because it was suggested by a few people in a Facebook group I am in. We went at about 7 pm. The place was empty. There were about 7-8 tables that were not bussed. The lady at the counter was not busy neither was the owner, so idk why the able were left like that. We ordered the meatloaf plate, a pastrami Reuben sandwich, and the rib plate. The sandwich was good. I will give them that. The meatloaf was not good and dry. The ribs were not right. 1 of the 3 ribs tasted ok. The other tasted almost spoiled. The Mac and cheese was cold. I have worked in food service and I know things are supposed to be kept at a certain temperature to avoid food born bacteria. I was very disappointed in this place and shocked that quite a few people recommended it. Also what seemed like a regular patron of the restaurant kept talking to us and wouldn't leave us alone almost the whole time we were trying to eat. I don't know if he was drunk or what the deal was. We both had the steak sandwitch. One was tender and good , the other not so much. Don't know why but the good one had a slice of tomato and the other one didn't. Curious. Also one steak was bigger and better then the other. The server tried her best to give the best one to my husband, but he had ordered the fries and I had ordered another side so her obvious choice failed. She placed the good steak on the wrong plate. Seeing the huge difference in the two, I gave half of mine to my husband and took half of his. I wonder why she was so determined who would get what plate. Why there was such a difference and what else they did do to the sandwich I was suppose to get. There was a huge age difference between her and my husband so I'm ruling out attraction. Brontosaurus Flintstone sized beef ribs, 12oz. Steak in my steak sanwich and golden fries. I really miss this place. Does not get fresher than this, everything is cooked in house and all of the meats come from their Meat Market side of the deli. Home made sides like mac n cheese and bbq beans. Hot links, bbq chicken, bbq pork ribs, pulled bbq pork, and burgers. So many things to pick from. There are home made deserts and custom drinks like a mango michelada. I counted 22 beers on tap. Very clean and staff is very friendly. It was a non stop circulation of people while I was there and I can see why. It is about 1.5hrs from home. It was worth the drive.
