A Little Cake — Restaurant in Park Ridge

A Little Cake met and exceeded my cake expectations. My fiancé and I got engaged Christmas Eve 2021 and my mother wanted to throw us an engagement party. While I love the food at the venue we chose, I wanted to do something extra special for cake/dessert. A big factory sheet cake simply would not do. I originally chose a local vendor to assist, as it was important for us to support small business, but they dropped the ball on communication. I had a vision for a custom cake and cupcakes to complement out theme and colors. Aesthetic was super important, but more important was for the cakes to taste amazing. A Little Cake kept coming over and over on local Facebook page suggestions. I reached out and the whole process was very easy and professional. They worked with me on the vision and filled in the gaps where I wasn’t sure what to do. Vanessa especially was super helpful. They even delivered straight to our venue, saving us so much time and stress. My only constructive feedback is I would have liked a notification or alert a little before payment was due. I got a call the day of payment and felt I had to scramble a bit as I wanted to settle the bill in cash. That’s more on me, but would love to see something like that reminder happen. I will start by saying the presentation of the cake I ordered was exactly what I asked for and the cake tasted good. With that being said, the customer service and delivery was absolutely horrendous and caused a great deal of stress the day of my baby shower. The cake was supposed to be delivered at 11AM. When I ordered the cake that time was agreed upon and confirmed. When I paid the remaining balance, the time was confirmed again. When I called the week of my shower, I confirmed with them yet again that the cake needs to be delivered at 11AM. 11:20AM rolls around the day of my shower and the cake hasn’t arrived. I called and they said it was on a truck in Franklin Lakes, when my shower was in the same town, down the block, as their bakery in Park Ridge, so not sure why the cake was going on a joy ride. They said it would arrive shortly. 12PM rolls around and my cake still hasn’t arrived. The cake ended up being delivered at 12:45PM. At this point it doesn’t even matter that the cake looks nice and tasted fine. It was incredibly embarrassing to have it delivered well into the party and incredibly unprofessional on the bakery’s part for not delivering at the time we confirmed SEVERAL TIMES. I would not order here again. I was not offered any alternate solutions while waiting or any compensation of the delivery fee for the mishap...

Very very impressed and satisfied customers! I am over the moon happy beyond words by how the staff at A Little Cake was super helpful and caring in getting my daughters 10th birthday Animal Crossing inspired cake made. I thought we wouldn't have time to get one placed, but thank goodness they were very helpful taking our order in. It definitely made my daughter have ❤ heart eyes when she saw her custom made character she created in the game come to life - we all loved the details on the character. THANK YOU So very much for making my daughter's 10th birthday memorable - I was as equally excited for her to see the cake. And beyond the design of the cake itself, my daughter picked out red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and strawberry for filling - the tastes overall was delicious. Cake was moist and frosting was not too sweet, just right - only the usual fondant sweetness. But again, BEYOND thankful to everyone at A Little Cake (Jeannine, Marianna, and Vanessa for the responses on emails) and the talented cake artist for their hardwork on my daughters cake.
