We stopped in Steven’s Point on our way up North, and while searching for a restaurant with good reviews, stumbled across the Silver Coach. This place is a complete GEM. The atmosphere transports you to a different time... where you feel you are on an adventure. Our waitress Makenna promptly greeted us and when she saw my eyes light up in awe of the place, she seated us in the most exquisite little private dining rail car. Makenna was the sweetest, was very attentive and provided top notch service. It surprised us when she said she had only been there a month, as she is a teacher and picked the job up for a little something extra while she was off for summer. Every restaurant needs a Makenna. What a doll. Now let's talk about the food.... AMAZING! We had the crawfish balls, the Jambalaya, and the Blackened Tenderloin. Oh and I had the beef and barley soup with my Tenderloin. Wow, wow, wow. I highly recommend all of the above. We were completely stuffed, but we got dessert to go. The Key Lime Cannoli's were to die for. I woke up the next morning and my first thought was "I wish I had another Key Lime Cannoli!" I mean serious..... that was my very first thought and I was only half awake! We live 4.5 hours away and I would make that drive again just to eat there again! Hats off to one of the best dining...
Read moreI would like to give this place a second chance but I was quite disappointed all around being this was a place we have talked about trying out sometime for years.
When walking in the there were 4 people at the bar and two waitresses sitting in chairs on their phones as soon as you turned the corner. There was one other couple eating when we arrive who finished shortly and we were alone in the dining room. Literally the only people eating in entire place.
We ordered the crawfish balls as an appetizer which were pretty good and then two filets a NY strip, and my daughter had chicken strips.
I went outside past the two waitress sitting on their phones to make a phone call. I then went back in and asked our waitress for a wine menu as I decided I was going to have a glass of wine with dinner. She said I can take it back to the table, ok no problem. 12 mins went by she never bothered to come get my drink order.
Our food came out and I told her the wine I wanted. It finally arrived halfway through the last course. Again NO ONE else in restaurant.
All the steaks were over cooked, my son’s was medium well to well done. we showed it to her and all She said was “ya looks like it is a little past medium rare.”
Really had high hopes for this place and was very disappointed. Won’t...
Read moreWe arrived, and didn't have reservations, so we were seated at the bar while they prepared a table for us. While we waited, I asked if they had anything they specialized in, and was told they did not, so I ordered an old fashioned, which was pretty standard fare, nothing special, but still quite expensive for what I received.
When we were finally seated, I found that I was less hungry than I originally thought, so I ordered some of the lighter fare, the steak dinner, while my wife ordered the bacon cheeseburger.
The soup that came with my order was delicious, but the buns were nothing special. My wife said the burger was fine. My steak, while very tender, and perfectly cooked medium-rare, was otherwise incredibly bland.
It turns out that they brought me the Steak Diane, which is a gravy & mushroom covered steak, but flavor-wise it was incredibly disappointing. At least when I mentioned the mix up on the order, they did correct it.
The table next to us was quite loud and had several issues with their bill as well, but they seemed very disorganized.
For being one of the higher-end restaurants in the area, all I can say is that I found it to be lackluster for my first visit, and will probably not...
