At one point during this store's life, it was a great place that offered a wide variety of foods for the family. Today the chain is a mere shell of what it once was. Miss steps and rebranding efforts to distance itself from other restaurants haven't done well. Taking away pasta offerings and brought new items like grease covered candy bacon as an appetizer. This store then already is starting off on a bad food only to make things worse. When you walk in you're typically greeted by a woman I affectionately call slois (slow + Lois). She acts like the mere effort to walk you to your seats should be rewarded or you should be grateful for her effort. Don't worry you will have plenty of time at the table before a waiter or waitress arrives. Standing in the back you can watch them talk in a huddle or simply walk outside. When they do come to wait on you speak loudly and slowly. I hate to sound so condensing, however if you fail to talk slowly and loudly they will either, make you repeat your order or mess it up. When ordering a drink be sure to take small sips. As part of the rebranding they took the standard glass most restaurants use and now use small mason jars (because country folks drink from them right)? These kids will work to pack the glass full of ice so in your small dixi cup sized jar will be maybe an ounce of your desired drink. Lord forbid that you get a refill. First off the waiter or waitress will take forever to come and check on you. Also when you do ask for a refill if they remember to bring you one, it will most likely be after you finish the meal. The food is decent but not worth the aggravation of sitting with bad wait staff and knowing for the money you could go somewhere else that offers more options and tastier foods. This restaurant is located close to where I live and I hate not supporting a local business. However investing money into this restaurant is like trying to tape the titanic back together after the iceberg...
Read moreWe have had great experiences at Bob Evans restaurants at other locations, so we decided to stop at this location for lunch. In the past, we have always gone to Bob Evans for either breakfast or supper, but this was our first lunch visit. My wife wanted broasted chicken - a Bob Evans staple - but we found out it is not available until after 4 pm. She ordered a fried chicken breast instead, expecting a deep-fried bone-in breast. What she got was a breaded white meat chicken patty, which was flavorless and very lackluster. I ordered a grilled chicken breast with glazed carrots and steamed broccoli. The grilled chicken was not bad, but I've had better. The veggies, on the other hand, were terrible. The carrots had been cooked so long that they were more yellow than orange in color, and the broccoli was also very overcooked. Both were very mushy. We ate the food, but it was disappointing. I brought this to the manager's attention when I went up to pay so that she would, hopefully, get the kitchen staff to correct this situation for future guests. I was prepared to pay full price because we had, in fact, eaten the food and not said anything to the waitress about it. The manager very graciously comped the entire check, which she did not have to do. We were very appreciative. She said that she did not want us to "give up on Bob Evans" and hoped that we would give the chain another try. Breakfast has always been great at Bob Evans, so we will probably stick with that...
Read moreThe food was good and our waiter Anthony was good. But your female cook or manager whoever was behind the wall lacked respect of employees. They may argue but working in customer service I have always I guess you could say easedropped. So tonight let's call him Mr Rude comes in and Anthony takes his order. He orders something not on the menu. Steak something with green peppers and melted cheese. Anthony went to the window and ask how he should place the order. She, the lady behind the wall explained to Anthony how to do the order. . Anthony in turn did as he was told. Someone else brings Mr Rude his dinner and there is no melted cheese. Mr Rude was unhappy. So the young lady took the plate back to the window explaining what was wrong. Anthony over heard and said he did as she explained. Well your lady cook or manager just cut loose. It didn't matter who heard her. Reaming him for not doing as he was told. When he tried to defend himself she just kept going. In my years of being in customer service, YOU DO NOT REPRIMAND AN EMPLOYEE IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. This is something that has always bothered me and I know of a manager who worked at a local retailer who was fired for doing that. I am not saying fire her. I am simply saying you need to have a chat with her. Bad for business and for...
