El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant & Cantina — Restaurant in Parkersburg

I went here for my boyfriends grandmother’s birthday with his family. This was a party of 8. I asked for my check to be separate because I was the only non-family member attending (you will see why I mention this later). The waiter was more than happy to do that for me. The service was very polite, courtesy, sincere, and accommodating. The food was great. It was very flavorful and came out in a timely matter. We got there at about 4 and were finish by about 5 o’clock which was perfect for me since I had to be to work right after we got done eating dinner there. The only thing I would say rubbed me the wrong way was the check. I looked through reviews on here and saw no mention of it which was surprising. They automatically give themselves a 18% tip which I understand because it’s a small business and honestly with the food and service I think that’s fair since they were very good with food, time, and service. I noticed it in my receipt so I didn’t additionally tip since they already tipped themselves. My boyfriends parents who paid for seven people did not notice this occurrence. So not only did they tip themselves but they also got a 35 dollar cash tip and a tip charged to the card that his mother added on at the end of the receipt. Which good bad or indifferent you can say is her fault for not reading through her receipt throughly to notice the automatically charged tip. However, when the person charging doesn’t mention it until after a card transaction I find that unfair to the consumer. So they made out with a tip of about 40-50% of what their bill was. Which would be fine if that was what his mother was wanting to tip but it was definitely not. Not saying this is uncommon in business or illegal, but noticing the large amount only after the transaction is made and then a patron asking their consumer “you know that it already charged an gratuity tip?” Sits...

I heard about this place from a nurse the day my daughter was born. I stopped here after finishing a job with my two men crew. We all knew we wanted to eat some good 🌮 and I knew just the place. On the way there I was hoping this place was not going to disappoint me in front of my 🌮 loving crew. I am writing this because it did not. Roxana and Joel made all of us feel relax and ready to eat. The music was classic Mexican. Roxana had the Xgames on at the bar while we enjoyed some Jarritos. We all ordered shimp tacos and dabbed some Yucateco hot sauce on each one. The 🔥 was the finished touch on an already GREAT SHRIMP TACO. The customer service is great. I even got my phone charge by the young lady at the front now I am writing this with it. The atmosphere and food are authentic Mexican restaurant the manger here must be smart and talented. Definitely check out the 🌮 dabbed with Yucateco hot sauce or anything else...

Wife and I had Valentine Lunch, this will be the first time at the New location in the Division Street Plaza since they moved from the Pike Street Southgate Plaza due more n likely to Camden Clark Hospital / WVU Medicine buying out the Southgate Plaza area. Food was Good, it was Cooked, Prepared and Plated correctly, waiter was very Accommodating and Helpful. The new location is very spacious and with lots of Natural Lighting from the large Plaza Windows, it was Clean with Great Flow around seating areas.
