So, I was sitting around the house this afternoon when visions of tenderloins started dancing in my head. So, what better place to go for a good tenderloin than a place that's known for its wings. That's right, I went to AL's Bar & Grill over in the Parkville area tonight.
As soon as you walk into this place, the first thing that hits your senses is the vinegar of the wing sauce that they use. That aroma just fills your senses. Alas, the bar was full, I found a tall table to sit at and pretty soon a waitress came by and took my order. I questioned her about the tenderloin. You see, I like my loins just a little bit on the thick side slightly chewy but yet still tender. If there's one thing I do not like in a tenderloin is one that is flattened out to the size of a hubcap and paper thin to me they’re tough and tasteless. I went with onion rings instead of the fries. And pretty soon there was a cold beer in front of me and I was waiting patiently for a basket full of food.
I did not have to wait long! Soon she brought me a basket full of Golden-Brown Tenderloin with just the right amount of bun overhang. It was probably around 3/8” of an inch thick, fried perfectly. I started to build the sandwich by putting down some lettuce, a few pickles, some tomato, onion, and spread a little mayo on the warm, slightly toasted bun, and finished it off with a healthy squirt of Frenches mustard. Taking a bite, I got a taste of the warm slightly toasted bun with its mayo and the bite of the mustard, then came the crispy crunch of the lettuce and onion, followed by crispy crusty texture of the breading. And then came the tender, savory pork! Heaven on a bun! Hot fresh onion rings all washed down with a cold beer!
Well Done Al’s Bar & Grill!

Read moreI honestly love a place where they have a roll of paper towels on the table, it is usually a good sign... as it was tonight. Al's is most certainly a hole-in-the-wall... with paper posters that have advertisements for beer and other alcohol on them on all the walls... AND it was packed. Burgers, sandwiches, and well talked about and much beloved wings. Bar food. Good, well priced bar food. We started out with cheese curds... demolished them, hot, gooey and plentiful. I ordered the fish and chips and the waiter was accomodating and patient as i changed up the order for sides of onion rings and cottage cheese instead of waffle fries and slaw. My son had the 20 piece wings, HOT. Nice size, meaty wings. Perfectly crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside... slathered with hot sauce. Very, very good. Just loved chomping down while hearing Elvis Presley singing Suspicious Minds in the background. I know this is the burning question, did we use the paper towels? Yes we did, turned...
Read moreFirst time going here and the wings were mediocre at best. Wings Cafe has 100x better wings save your time, money and get yourself a good meal there. An objective analysis of the wings now the skin was tough not crispy, the meat was dry and the wing's weren't lathered with sauce at all it was all slid off and on the bottom of the plate. 2/10 wings. The only reason they aren't a 1 is because whoever their distributor is for their wings you can tell is decent until they got a hold of them and tried to cook them. Also the crowd would be best described as COVID-19 deniers or simply not considerate of any other patrons. I walk it and am greeted with many middle aged men drunkenly yell/singing some terrible "song" that goes "I'm gonna knock you out" and they repeated that one part many times. The vibe is awful, the seating is awful and the wings are awful. Steer clear if you're not already a regular patron who goes there to take over the joint with their...
