Upon walking in I was greeted immediately. We decided to sit in the bar area. We sat down for about 2-3 minutes before a server brought us a menu. Quick service. That's a very good sign.
The entire establishment is clean and presents itself very well. The table. chairs, walls, windows everything was clean. I did the finger test for dust etc. Nothing all clean.
Things we ordered.
Pretzel Calamari BBQ chicken pizza French onion soup
Pretzel? wow. Their dough is perfect. Right amount of salt to. The cheese sauce is SO good. I always ask for extra. Rich in flavor and just amazing.
Calamari. I've heard some people say it's "fake" because it looks and taste so good lol. The breading isn't overbearing at all. It's light and fried perfectly. The calamari is cooked through and perfectly. It isn't chewy like gum at all.
BBQ chicken pizza. I was worried at first as I have a few places I only trust to make this right. This exceeded all my expectations. The BBQ sauce, chicken, onions, cheese, pizza dough... All amazing. The BBQ sauce is sweet with a tiny tiny bit of spice. Onions were fresh, dough was perfect. I will definitely order this again and highly recommend it if you enjoy BBQ chicken pizza.
French onion soup. I've had French onion soup from MANY places, Including a true french restaurant in France. And you know what? THIS one is better. This is by far the best french onion soup I've ever had from anywhere I've been to. It was CLOSE call between theirs and another place in NYC I go to. With this soup you won't be disappointed. The broth is very flavorful, bread is perfect, the cheese is melted correctly with no burning. It's just a fantastic well done french onion soup the way it should be!
Moving onto the service and other things that stood out.
Not sure why the manager came to our table. Maybe they monitor their yelp and see if elites check in? who knows. That'd be smart though right? Either way the manager came out to our table and asked if everything was ok. Asked us what beers we'd like to try or already have tried. He made us feel very welcomed and special.
Our server was extremely attentive. And it wasn't just with our table. I noticed he was quick to respond and help everyone he was serving.
Overall my my experiences here have been nothing but GREAT. This place knows how to make their customers happy. And if for some odd reason you aren't? mention it and I'm sure they'll be quick to make your visit a satisfying one.

Exposed brick walls, reclaimed‑wood accents, and communal tables set a warm, inviting tone—ideal for everything from a casual lunch to a lively evening out. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, checking in at just the right intervals and offering friendly beer recommendations when asked.
The Fish & Chips This is where Firestone truly shines. The fish arrived piping hot, encased in a light, ultra‑crisp batter that stayed remarkably crunchy even after a few minutes at the table. The fillets themselves were flaky and moist, with just the right hint of sea salt and a squeeze of fresh lemon cutting through the richness. The hand‑cut fries were golden, with a fluffy interior and a touch of herbs—perfect for soaking up the last drops of tartar sauce.
“Way better than at the beach,” as I told my companion—and it really was. The beer batter tasted clean and well‑balanced, letting the quality of the fish take center stage rather than masking it.
Beer Pairing I opted for Firestone’s flagship Union Jack IPA, whose bright citrus and pine notes complemented the richness of the fish beautifully. For those who prefer something lighter, the Luponic Distortion series or the Firestone Pilsner are both excellent choices to keep the palate refreshed bite after bite.
Value & Takeaway At around $18 for the fish & chips combo (including a side salad and your choice of brew), it’s a very fair price for pub‑quality fare plus one of the West Coast’s best craft beers on tap. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Firestone Brewery’s fish & chips are a must‑try—and I’d happily go back for...
Read moreA nice (dog-friendly) patio, great food, and last but certainly not least, great beer—what’s not to love?! My significant other and I came on a sunny afternoon while visiting from out of town.
*The Lions’ Fish ‘N’ Chips: We loved this entree!! As someone who used to live in a fish n’ chip city (Victoria, BC), and had this also in London proper, I found these to actually be my favorite. The fish was cut in a way which made it seem like appropriately giant, adult-size fish sticks, which made a lot more sense to me than trying to fork and knife the typical bigger slab of fish. They had perfected the light and crispy batter, use softly-fleshed white fish, and made an incredible homemade tartar sauce. The quip is that the “Lion’s fries” (steak fries) that came with it weren’t crispy enough for our taste—and saw the same droopy fry at the table next to us—so specify to the server that you’d like them extra-crispy.
*Merlon Mustard Glazed Ribs: I’m salivating again just writing about this. The pork ribs were perfectly juicy, flavorful, and tender. And the sauce!!! Addictive, and just the right balance of sweetness. Brought these home for leftovers and they reheated beautifully. It came with bear fries (shoestring fries) and these were perfect. Coleslaw was light and refreshing.
*3 oz. beer sampling: Of course, we had to do a sampler of these fine beers. What a fun offering! They have an unfiltered British Pale Ale that is their flagship ale. It was unique and my significant other loved that the most.
This lunch was so tasty, we’re going to try to come back again for another lunch before...
