The NexMex Thing — Restaurant in Peabody

Went there for a birthday party on a weekday, reservations for 15 but only 10 showed total. The service was about the worst I've ever had, or seen, and I've worked in restaurants for years. There was us and two other, smaller, parties in the whole restaurant. Showed up at around 8, had to pretty much beg the waitress to take my drink order. She didn't get everyone's orders at once but took like two peoples, then left. Saw her again maybe half hour later, and it was challenging paying attention to my friends while having to keep one eye on the server.

Three of the ten people in our party didn't even get to place their orders until after we had already been there for an hour and a half. Just let that sink in for a minute. By the time their food arrived everyone else had already eaten and were packing up to go, so those really disappointed people felt like they were rushed. In the two and half hours I was there, the waitress refilled my drink a grand total of one time.

Eventually the member of our party who recommended the place sought out the manager, who was apologetic and polite, and thankfully we didn't have to deal with that server again, aside from seeing the barely veiled contempt on her face when she'd walk by. When the manager took over, we did get better service from there but by then we'd already been there for two hours.

When she did get around to taking some of the party's order (just a handful of people, she ignored the rest as saw fit), the food came out pretty quickly and honestly it was delicious. Really a great meal, and the drinks were good too. If the weren't for the terrible service I'd come back. Maybe in a few months if they get better waitstaff I myself might give them another chance, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

I ordered from here the first time the other night, and I have to say the food was great. I ordered the steak taco which was delicious as you can see by the photo i ended up eating half of it before I got a chance to take the picture lol. I also got their elote, and chips and guacamole with a side of queso cheese, at first glance at the elote I wasn't at all impressed, it looked very plain and I thought the taste was going to match the look but I was wrong lol, it was absolutely delicious. Next we move onto the chips and guacamole absolutely great, the chips were a little too salty to me but still great, the only few small issues I had was the queso, it litterally tasted like they melted and watered down some velveeta cheese and added some seasonings too it. Please get another queso recipe, because your food is to delicious to not have queso to match, I would have definitely given 5 stars had the queso been delicious. And then only 1 more issue I had ordered from uber eats app when I placed this order and the menu was very misleading, it said I would be getting 3 tacos, it even asked when adding the toppings if I wanted the add ons added to 1, 2, or 3 tacos, I obviously pressed to have the toppings added to 3 tacos, and was charged for toppings for each individual taco, so I was charged add on toppings for 2 tacos I didn't even recieve, but this seems to be an uber app menu issue and not that of the actual restaurant, but the restaurant should definitely go on the uber app for ordering from their restaurant and make sure uber fixes that so their customers don't continue getting over charged. Came here for lunch & everything was great. Decided to grab a burrito for a friend, to go. Asked for no cheese or sour cream due to an allergy. My receipt stated that there was none of that on it. Yet half way through the burrito it was completely filled with both. Waste of money & my friend ended up getting sick due to this. Other than that the food & service was good, drinks as well & Decor was nice.

A month later update: Food was awesome! Sat at the bar, total of 3 people at the bar including myself & my date. Had to ask for a water twice before the 3rd guest even showed up. There were tap covers on the taps (we were there 3hrs prior to close), asked to sample a beer, bartender poured & stick cap back on without wiping the tap. Not sure why the caps were on all taps I the first place. Bartender had ZERO knowledge on beers on tap, ABV, or what exactly was on tap. Asked in the beer we tried was low ABV, bartender said he didn't believe so, we looked it up on google & it was 4.7%. He said it was hard to remember due to the beers changing so often. There are only about 7-8 beer on tap. A month ago only two beers had changed since then. Taking away a star from my review due to poor knowledge of menu items as well as bar (for a bartender they should have full knowledge of the bar & items they are selling.) Not blaming staff, but more or less a lack of training seems more of a problem. I hope by summer time this improves, because of West Coast opening up soon, they're going to be getting a lot more "beer buffs" & be packed. I want to love this place so badly because the food is awesome, vibe is great & artwork is AMAZING! But definitely needs some work over all...
