We were driving through Tuesday night when we happen to see the BBQ sign as we passed the restaurant, so we made a u-turn. It was worth it! This was our first visit as we have never heard of this place before. Grant it, we don't live here.
Being avid travelers, we decided to try this local bbq restaurant. It did not disappoint! From placing our orders at the counter, to the bus boy quickly seeing me eye a table that needed to be wiped down . . . He was working on clearing off a nearby table, but after asking if I'd like to have that specific table, he IMMEDIATELY stopped what he was doing and cleaned the table I wanted. He was VERY friendly and polite. I appreciate his thoughtfulness and kindness.
For drinks, you have the two self-serve Coke machines and teas. One of the Coke machine ran out of ice, but we were able to get in line to use the other machine. That to me is a good sign because it often means they get a lot of customers, hence low ice toward closing time.
We did not have to wait long for our food. The young lady and young man that brought our orders made sure we had everything we needed and she came back to double check everything was OK. The 2 meats combo (pulled pork and chicken) with corn on the cob and fries were very good and the meat was moist. I had the salad with bacon and their version of chili with brisket. The garden salad was fresh and crunchy. The chili seem to have more of the fatty part of the brisket. The flavor was delicious!Oh! The corn muffins were DELICIOUS also!! The Mac and cheese was a little dry (parts of the cheese on top was a little hard.... wonder if it was leftover from lunch or sat out too long?). It still was edible. That was the only "negative" part of our visit. We did come with about an hour left before closing. Not a big deal breaker in comparison to the entire meal and positive first experience.
Overall, the food and dining experience were VERY good and rivaled two of our own local BBQ restaurants. Frankly, our party agreed that Jim 'N Nick's is better!!
The staff is very friendly. As we ate I could see and hear their interactions with each other and the other customers. EVERYONE waa pitching in to help. I did not see one person just "chilling", standing around, on their cellphone, or chatting. Very refreshing to observe! As we were walking through the parking lot to our vehicle, a gentleman walking into the side entrance waved at us and THANKED US for coming. It was a VERY positive experience with a great vibe! We would definitely return if we pass through here again. I highly recommend...
Read moreThis past Friday, ( 4-28-23 ) I used the drive-thru to place an order. Placed my order and gave my name. Once paying at the window I was instructed by N _ _ _ _ a to pull into the open "waiting " space. Now, I for whatever reason thought I was possibly blocking other vehicles exiting the line. So I pulled into the very first parking space that was for " Call/In To/Go " orders. This space is directly inline with the employee door. The young lady comes out to hand the drive-thru customer that was ahead of me his order. She asks me was I a call in and I responded no, just the vehicle behind the other man. She responds ; " I told you to pull to the side of that vehicle." Before I could finish explaining and apologizing for my reasoning for parking there, she walked off in mid-sentence. I had no problem circling the building and moving into the space. A couple minutes later, a Caucasian man with mixed gray hair and beard exited the door with an order that he gave to another customer in the "waiting " cue. After going back inside he returned with a beverage for another cue customer. That's when the woman he had given the previous order to stopped him. I could hear her say this wasn't her order. The bag was open as she had physically checked it. He took the food and was headed back in. I asked was the order for, ( my name ). He responded; " are you Jerry?" I said no but was it a smoked wings & fry meal. He said yes and then told me I should have parked in the waiting cue. As I apologized and attempted to explain why I was not, HE walked off in mid-sentence. Now, I can understand when you're super busy and the need to expedite things in a timely manner. But in my case it wasn't and just a modicum of common courtesy goes a long way. I've worked my entire life customer-facing so this did not sit well at all. So for future reference, I'll go back to the Montgomery, Al. location when I visit there, or better yet take my business to Shane's locally. Footnote: To add ' insult to injury ' , the smoked wings gave me an...
Read moreHad a Jim n Nicks close to my house in Conyers 6 years ago and it was insanely good. Great service with real waiters and generous portions. When the new one opened up in Sharpsburg my whole family was excited. This new Jim N Nicks is an order, pay, and then sit Place. Not my favorite concept but not a huge deal. We have eaten there twice because I was hoping the first time was a fluke. Nope. Brisket was 50% fat. Just a large piece of fat with a little meat. I eat brisket a good bit so I have an idea of what should be expected. Disappointing. The next disappointing thing is the muffin situation. They are delicious but now you get one small muffin on the tray. This used to be a basket of six that came to the table before your meal. I understand cutting cost might be a necessity but it still is disappointing. Service at this location is annoying. You have four different people coming by your table asking if everything is ok. Sounds great but becomes nuisance when trying to figure out who you told what. We asked two different people for silverware before we got it. Orders were wrong both of our visits. Nothing crazy but again annoying having to ask for the correct sides when you are ready to eat. This visit both my pulled pork sandwich and my girlfriends had dime size bone/cartilage in it. BBQ sauce was on the tray for one sandwich but not the other. Just a lack of consistency kills it for me. The final problem we had is when we were finishing up. Again, four people coming by asking to take the trays/ dishes. As one walked away another came up and asked to take our trays. The problem is we were still eating. I finally lost it and told the younger guy to “back off we are still eating”It was 4:15 on a Saturday so they were not slammed. Really loved this place but I don’t think me nor my family will visit again. Too expensive for this level of frustration. It takes a lot for me to write a review good or bad. I hate leaving negative reviews but felt the criticism...
