Just got back from here with my family. I had read an online article of the restaurant & was intrigued by the fact that the owner opened it's doors during Covid & very impressed when I read that he ran the whole operation by himself during that time. The article also featured that they have some of the best fried chicken in the state & we drove an hour to try it. Let me say that neither the chicken nor any of the other dishes that we ordered were a disappointment. Some of the best food & the fried chicken may be the best I have ever eaten in my life ANYWHERE! Sweet tea was also just right & amazing. The chef's food is five star. A real shame because that is where the good part of this review ends as we were told upon being seated that the chef was running a little behind, but the wait we endured was painfully ridiculous. All the other people seated as the same time as us were also really upset with the super extended wait time as everyone was talking about it. Then they were turning customers away after we were seated. No soap or paper towels to wash hands in bathroom. No straws were brought out with drinks. People next to us had to ask for silverware. Had to ask for refills. My son ordered hot tea & they brought out the hot water with the tea bags just sitting at the table beside the sweeteners. No price or sign about there being a charge for them, so my son had opened a couple tea bags. They came back to the table after leaving off part of my son's order & said that instead of asking the chef for his missed order could they just deduct the price off of the bill for the used tea bags that we were never told were forbidden. Not to mention they wanted $3.00 per teabag!!! If you don't want people thinking the teabags are there for use; then why not either label them $3 each or remove them from the table instead of placing them next to the sweeteners. For making people wait over an hour to eat, your servers should be attentively looking after customer's needs instead of trying to agitate customers further by scolding them over some teabags worth about 15 cents each. No one even bothered to check on us or ask us how we were during the wait & dessert was not offered, we had to bring it up ourselves. As good as the food was we will not be back here again. To be fair though; the reviews that led us this restaurant do not seem to reflect the experience that we had. I don't know if we just happen to hit a really rough/rare bad time maybe as the reviews seem to be typically & consistently good. This left me very confused. In any case; for us at least, this was certainly no way to make a first impression with brand new customers; it has to be top 5 worst dining & service experiences ever. Be good to your customers & they will be good to you....
Read moreLooked up restaurants in the area and saw one I didn't recognize. Browsing through the pictures, the food looked good, so we decided to stop by for lunch. Probably the best decision I'll make all week! It's to the right of Goodwill, where the BBQ place used to be.
Looking over the menu, the fried chicken caught my eye. I remember reading something about it, so I got the half-chicken. Amanda got the Adult Grilled Cheese. Chef James was wonderful in answering our questions, and we also talked about his tattoos. He let us know that the chicken is fried after it's ordered, so it will be fresh, but take a little time. All good... I started daydreaming about fried chicken.
When the food got to us, everything looked wonderful. You take your first bite with your eyes, and my eyes were telling me to dig in (forget it was just fried, and is going to be HOT!!). That first bite was awesome... worth savoring! The sides were equally good! I almost NEVER eat fried chicken breast because it's usually tough and dry. I figured I would give this a shot, and cut a section out. It was as good as all the other pieces, and vanished just as quickly!
Overall, we love this place, and can't wait to go back! This restaurant opened in March, so could probably use a little love from the community! I highly highly recommend it, and I look forward to trying everything...
Read moreNice, casual spot for comfort food in a quiet atmosphere. On a recommendation, we tried Eating Americana for dinner Friday evening. The food was delicious. I had the special, a tortellini dish with salmon and delicious cheese sauce, and my spouse had wings in 2 flavors. We also each had a beer and dessert. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. The wings were nice and crispy with tasty sauces. The special was just right. It had a nice balance of flavors and felt like comfort food. Of the desserts, the bread pudding outshined the peanut butter pie, but both were a delicious end to the meal. The staff is small, and it might get a little slow if the restaurant is full, but we were served quickly and found the service to be very friendly. Overall, we found it to be a nice date night pick that doesn't require dressing up. The booths are not padded, which became uncomfortable by the end of the meal, but there are pillows around that could cushion a sore tush. The chairs are padded, which likely makes them more comfortable. We look forward to returning for their weekend brunch sometime - the menu looked...
