âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ (If I could give more stars, I would!)
Let me start by saying this: under the old ownership, Alba's was an abomination. Iâm talking about the kind of food that made you question your life choices. I once ordered baked ziti and received a container of overcooked mush swimming in acidic sauce that burned the roof of my mouth, andâget thisâno cheese. No refund. Nothing. The pizza? A greasy, rubbery, flavorless mess with a crust that could chip a tooth. And donât even get me started on the salad that literally gave me food poisoning. It was so bad, I swore Iâd never go back. Ever.
But thenâŚI started seeing people on the Browns Mills Facebook page talking about how the place had new owners, new cooks, and actual Italians running the kitchen. I was skepticalâpainfully skeptical. But curiosity (and desperation for a decent spot close to home) got the better of me.
And wow. JustâŚwow.
From the moment the food arrived, I knew something was different. Despite ordering on DoorDash, the delivery came through their own driverâflat pizza box, upright salad, garlic knots neatly packed, and everything piping hot and fresh. It smelled like a legit pizzeria the second I opened the bag. My stomach was already cheering.
The garlic knots? Absolute perfection. Not too greasy, bursting with flavor, and the dough had this subtle sweetness that made them completely addictive. I didnât even need to dip them in the sauceâbut I did anyway, and the sauce? A rich, sweet, non-acidic pizza sauce that was balanced, smooth, and didnât destroy my stomach like the old one used to.
Then came the pizza. And I nearly cried.
The cheese stayed put. The crust had that subtle semolina finish that made even the end bites worth savoring. The cheese-to-sauce ratio was spot on, the flavors blended beautifully, and the whole thing tasted like something youâd get in a legit New York pizzeria. It was THAT good.
But hereâs the part that shocked me most: THE SALAD. Yes, I willingly ordered a salad from Albaâs again. And it was fresh. Like actually freshâcrisp veggies, vibrant colors, none of that âsitting-in-the-fridge-for-a-weekâ nonsense. Just pure, clean, beautifully prepared salad that made me feel human again. And not one bite made me sick.
Whoever these new owners areâthank you. Seriously. Thank you for taking what was once the culinary version of a landfill and turning it into an actual gem. Youâve done more than clean houseâyouâve resurrected this place. I almost want to walk in and hug whoever is running the kitchen now, because they deserve it.
If you're like me and gave up on Albaâs a long time agoâgive it another chance. It's not just better. It's unrecognizably better. This is now a place worth supporting, and I couldnât be more thrilled that itâs right up the street from me. Iâll absolutely be a regular. Canât wait to explore more of the menu.
Bravo, new Albaâs. Youâve earned...
Read moreAttention all active duty military, retirees, and vets. Do not eat at Albaâs! Also if you are in the Browns Mills area do not eat there! I was a regular customer prior to Mr. Mohammed purchasing this business. I would get the spaghetti with meat sauce dinner or stromboli. On 15 Nov I ordered stromboli after 9 pm. Mr Mohammed had left for the evening and left his son in charge. When i sliced the stromboli I noticed that the dough was still uncooked on the inside. I called back and spoke to his son and explained that the stromboli was not done. That it was âdoughyâ He said he didnt understand what I meant and then said the oven was turned off for the night. He also stated that he would make another one well done the next time I ordered it. So I had to put it in the oven to cook longer. So I called back on 26 Nov and spoke to Mr. Mohammed and explained the situation and that I would be there in 30 minutes. So I get there and inform him that I called him about the stromboli. I then asked him if he was gonna charge me. He said yes I don't give nothing for free. I explained that it wasn't done. He said if itâs a problem he âmakes it rightâ.I told him that his son said the oven was turned off for the night. Mr Mohammed proceeds to tell me that thatâs not trueâthe oven stays on 24 hrs. I asked him if he spoke go his son about what I informed him. His response was ânoâ So I said âso basically you are saying Iâm lyingâ. He says no I didnt say that. Hello you insinuated it! Also, your son is a liar! As iâm trying to explain what happened, Mr. Mohammed is over talking and loud talking me. This must be the acceptable custom in Egypt to overtalk and loud talk women. Its not professional or acceptable to speak to any paying customer in this manner! He then had the nerve to bring up about me asking for extra sauce for my stromboli that he charged me for when he first took over the business. That was a long time ago and I paid it and continue to go there. Also, don't you think if I had a problem after that I would have stopped going? After finding out he planned to charge me again and that he didnt make the stromboli anyways I said don't and I would not come back again. Don't waste your money because you may be in the same situation and be treated nasty. Heâs concerned about money only and not customer service and doing whatâs right. Normally I don't post reviews but as a fellow vet and longtime resident of Browns Mills itâs warranted. Plus he may not want to refix your food even though he claims he will âmake it rightâ. This business doesnât deserve our hard...
Read moreI would like to start by saying they were not very perceptive on the phone from the start and instead of working with me on our problem they argued like children, constantly placed me on hold, and hung up the phone up on me ! I ordered a pepperoni pizza with bacon as well. there was literally spritzed so pathetically on a FEW slices and we had originally asked for extra pepperoni as well. after explaining all this on the phone we decided to try and discuss this mishap properly. not even just seeking $20 FOR 1 PIZZA! but just for maybe even a slight generous amount of back to compromise. when we came in we calmly waited and addressed the problem and the owner immediately became irate, snatching the box open dug his fingers in it trying to say a slight burning of the crust was bacon! after us still just trying to be okay about it and explain he picked the pizza up and through it across the store , and slammed my money on the counter persistently cursing and threatening me on a variety of way including saying he should call the police. I should have myself but because I felt so threatened my adrenaline didn't even allow me to think of that form of action. as a 17 year old girl I just might have cried , I was unhappy about the pizza but I would have never acted in such a futile manner. I am appauled at this behavior from what I had thought of a respectful...
