Horrible experienceToday. So I order an encebollado mixto to go. Once I get to my house I started eating it when I saw a big 🪰 inside the plate. I called and I was told to go back and get another one but no refund (I still had more than half in my plate when I called) . I asked why not, huhshe said it was restaurant's policy. So I said whatever I'll get a new one. Once I arrived the same girl who gave me the order before comes and opens it and says I have to check the food before you take it since the owner got mad at me because we don't have any flies in our kitchen. I asked her if they do that for everyone that orders online she said no! (She already had an attitude) So I asked to speak to the owner because I Definitely did not bring that fly from my house and I should have not been approached like if I did. She said he is very busy in the kitchen and will not come out. I told her is not fair that I complain about something wrong from their side and I'm being talked to like if it was my fault. I took out my phone to record what was happening she got very upset 😔and said: I have audio and video too. So I replied" good that means whatever I record is gonna match what you have." She went on saying that I was being petty and I told her it wasn't about the money it was about the fact that I was treated like if I did wrong for complaining about the food.(the argument about the owner coming outside lasted for like 30 minutes) Long story short. She said bring me your card to give you the money back. I went to my car to get it when I came back the owner was outside calling the cops on me. He preferred to call the cops than come and talk to me. As a consumer I feel like it was unfair that he will get mad at the waitress because they don't have flies in their kitchen according to them. I wanted to talk to him so he can know from me that I wasn't happy about finding the fly. He refused to come outside after all that time he heard the waitress and I arguing about him facing me. But then he calls the cops. To me Barzolas in Pembroke was the best from all 3 we have in South Florida and honestly after what happen I will never go back again. I preferred to get food from all the private homeowners cooking Ecuadorian food. Is way more flavorful cheaper and the small homeowners really appreciate you as their customers.

BEWARE!! Extremely disappointed. Pork sausage soup is a typical Ecuadorian delicacy. It is supposed to have sausage cut in pieces that are normally larger than the soup spoon in size and in several amounts (pieces). Each plate contained no more than 3 sausages in size of cocktail sausages, the pictures show, how small they were. At first, we didn't realize there where any sausages, despite the several pieces of other ingredients, when I asked the waiter about the lack of sausages while moving the spoon in the soup, these very small size items became visible to which the waiter pointed out to be the sausages. I asked if he was mocking me, he replied he was very serious. I insisted it had to be a joke, because that (holding the cocktail size piece of sausage) could not be the sausage and if it was, why was there only 2 or 3? Instead there were platain sausages and platain pieces overflowing the plate. His reply was "that's how it comes!" The next disappointment was the bill. Not only was it ridiculously expensive but the bill included an 18% gratuity to serve 2 people. It is the first time I ever see a restaurant force patrons to tip and not suggest. Not even in the really expensive restaurants. Gratuity is always voluntary and it is a recognition for service efforts. Stay away from this place if you want to avoid being disappointed with a spoiled meal experience. You will find other Ecuadorian restaurants that respect the heritage of the dish and the patrons.

Everything is delicious! A bit pricy but worth it if you like Ecuadorian food. Pictures are for the following dishes: Caldo de Bola (peanut, meat, veggie stuffed plantain ball soup) Carne apanada con arroz y lentejas (breaded steak with white rice and lentils) Side order of maduros (sweet plantain) and chifles (crispy plantain chips) Humitas dulce (sweet maize stuffed with cheese) Cazuela de pescado (peanut and plantain dish stuffed with fish in a specialty pot) Barzola desayuno, con bolon de Maduro mixto. (their signature breakfast with sweet plantain ball stuffed with cheese and fresh pork belly and rind (chicharrón) Encebollado de pescado (fish and onion soup usually a hangover cure!) Empanada de verde (plantain empanada stuffed with melted cheese) Drinks were colada (a sweet cinnamon oat drink) and Ecuadorian Pilsner. Coffee not pictured is delicious and strong! Naranjilla or Lulo shake is spot on, citrusy and tart but sweet.

They don’t even deserve 1 star. It’s not about the food- the food is fine. It’s the service. One thing is if the server has a bad attitude (which in my 4 visits they all have had bad attitudes) it’s also the owner. I ordered about $48 of food to go on January 12, 2019. I was instructed by Ximena (server) to heat up the ā€œhumitasā€ in 2 min. I paid for a Diet Inca Kola, which she forgot to pack šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø After enjoying some dishes, I heated up the sweet ā€œhumitaā€ in 2 minutes as instructed but it didn’t cook. As a native Ecuadorian I know how humitas look. I took the humitas to the restaurant on Sunday, January 13th hoping for my soda which they forgot to give me, the two humitas that I paid for and I was actually going to order two more meals for dinner. I had the unpleasant experience to meet the owner, Giovani. He states he doesn’t ā€œreplaceā€ food. Mind you, I had the receipt and Ximena who assisted me last night was also present. I shower him the uncooked hunitas which he put in the microwave for 2 minutes but still didn’t cook. Then he took them to the back kitchen and brought them back to me ā€œcooked.ā€ Number one, I understand you can’t take food back, if the customer brings it to you, you throw it away and give a new one. Well a good businessman would do that, but number two, it’s a health code violation to take the food that I bought last night and brought back the next day. How gross...i’m sure this has been done before. You don’t know where I put this food and how ā€œcleanā€ my kitchen is. I am reporting this to the Health Department. All over two $4.95 humitas. PS- they did give me the soda today, but it was the wrong...
