Mofongo House Restaurant — Restaurant in Pembroke Pines

Comprehensive review: The Mofongo tasted good, the first time that I visited on a weekday; the service was good to on a weekday, however the second time I went there on a Sunday, with my mother, and the service was horrible!

The service and ambiance: the cook is responsible for keeping the music extremely loud that we cannot have a casual comfortable conversation with your family. If you ask them to lower the volume, they frown and don't do it. People who frequented the place were yelling like drunken in a low class bar.

The food: seasoned with heavy artificial flavors, that makes the food flavorful, but very unhealthy. I ordered one dish and my mother another. 15 mins after they told us that they did not have the ingredients for my mother dish. She ordered another and five minutes later again they did not have the ingredients for the other. To make matters worst, they brought my dish first and I just gave it to my mother. They took another 40 minutes and nothing the second dish. I asked the to cancel it for the bad experiences. Then gave me a hard time to cancel and at that point they brought the second dish to the cashier area. Finally the dish was canceled. Needless to say that I will never recommend this place to friends or family.

The area: looks unhygienic outside. The plaza where it's located looks raggedy.

Hidden hole in the wall gem!!

One Saturday morning, I didn’t feel like cooking breakfast but wanted something different than your typically eggs, bacon and biscuit. So I hopped on my trusty Yelp app and got to searching. I came across this restaurant and knew I had to have it. By the time I found it, it was after their serving time of breakfast (11:30) but I called anyway and without hesitation she took my order.

Since I don’t live too far, my order wasn’t ready when I got there. So I had to wait a bit. I ended up adding a cafe con ledge to the order. However it wasn’t an authentic cafe con leche at all. My food however was delicious. The mangu was delicious. My only complaint is that I should have asked for more pickled onions on top. They serving of mangu was huge. I literally ate off of it the whole day. With my order I also got an omelet that I should’ve asked for without cheese. Not much of a cheese and simply just overlooked that small detail but I know for next time.

The food is actually delicious and the portions are plentiful. I only gave it 4 stars because the place could use a lot of TLC and remodeling, but in all honesty, it's a pretty Good restaurant. There's always music playing in the background. The lunch menu is actually available all day which is good for people like me who eat smaller portions. Although their portions are so big that I can usually share my food with my daughter and still get full. I really like that about this restaurant. You will never leave hungry or wanting another bite. They make sure of that. Many of their patrons go in for beer and conversation in the evening, but it is a family friendly place.
