I really enjoyed the food I ordered, but my companion did not enjoy theirs as much. We tried the large pepperoni pizza and a cheese calzone. When I called, I realized they don't have a plain cheese calzone, so they just made me the Italian without any of the meat. There's a lady at the front operating the business. You may have to wait quite a bit to place an order over the phone, and she put me on and off hold multiple times, this confusing me a bit. When I arrived, she gave me a card for a free large pizza after 5 stamps. In the kitchen, there are some younger boys working the pizza ovens. They noticed that our order was made and quickly brought it to us. We typically prefer thin pizza, but this one was quite thick. It's a typical Pittsburgh style pizza. They aren't too heavy on the toppings. Fair amount of cheese and the sauce tastes good, not too sweet or acidic. Also, a large is quite big and not overly expensive. It's pretty typically, but we were disappointed by the thickness of this crust. My calzone, though, was very good. Dough is pretty plain and there's quite a bit of it. I would have appreciated a dipping sauce to go with it (most places give marinara for free). But, they stuff this calzone with cheese. Loads of ricotta especially. And, the portion is pretty amazing for $12.50. All in all, this isn't the spot to get thin and crispy pizza. It's just decent. But, their calzones are really good in my opinion. Not the best I've ever had, but I definitely enjoyed it.

The absolute BEST Gluten free pizza I’ve ever had! Everyone there was so nice and helpful! I got the garlic bread, Steak Stromboli, Ying Yang pizza (Half Buffalo chicken, half cheeseburger pizza) , and fried dough (rolled in sugar and cinnamon) ALL gluten free! I haven’t had pizza like this since I stopped eating gluten! Definitely worth every penny and a 30min drive! • • One thing I will add that it is a shared kitchen so there is a chance of cross contamination but for someone like me who has a gluten allergy and not celiac it’s absolutely perfect 🙌🏻

Their Gluten Free is the best I've had nation wide! It's just like real pizza dough, first time I have ever found a gluten free pizza that looks and tastes normal! If you are anywhere in the area, give this place a try!!!! The Calzones (regular and gluten free) are HUGE and the gluten free sugar balls are to die for. This family knows how to make good food, all the food is wonderful!!! Wish I loved closer.

owner was nice, the food was good, but definitely do not eat here if you have celiac or are very sensitive to gluten. I ordered a gluten-free calzone, and she warned me on cross-contamination, which is the case pretty much everywhere you dine out. That said, I don’t know what is in the dough or how contaminated everything was, but I am feeling quite sick just a couple hours after eating there.

And while I do have celiac, I still get pizza all the time from places that make both regular and gluten-free. This typically does not happen. So it must’ve been very contaminated or else the ingredients are not actually gluten-free as advertised! avoid the gluten-free dough at all costs, unless you are just eating gluten, free as a trend or fad diet. if you actually need to be GF, go elsewhere.

ETA: I got violently-ill last night to the point I almost had to go to hospital. My worst “glutening” in 15 years - it was Scary!!

my non-GF hubby ate the rest of the supposed “gluten-free” calzone today and his consensus was “there was definitely not one iota of that which was gluten-free. either she used the wrong dough, doesnt know what GF is, or they just say it’s GF when it isn’t.”

NOT SAFE FOR CELIAC; DOUBT IT IS EVEN...

I have lived up the street from Universal Pizza for 3 years, and I drive past it at least once a week, often more. After all the times I said, “I wanna try that place,” I finally pulled the trigger tonight!

First of all, I love when restaurants, especially local shops, give their customers the ability to order online! I ordered a large cheese pizza (16”) for pickup, and the online system notified my that it would be ready in 20 minutes. Altogether, it cost right around $10, which isn’t bad for that size of pizza!

When I showed up 20 minutes later, the pizza was fresh out of the oven! The staff was friendly and attentive, and I was in and out in under 3 minutes.

When I got home and opened the box, I was greeted by this delicious looking pizza! The tomato sauce tasted very fresh, and the cheese was a perfect blend and went very nicely with the sauce. The crust was cooked perfectly and had some nice air pockets. It definitely started fresh, and you can taste it! Altogether, a fantastic pizza, and I will definitely...
