New Golden Bowl — Restaurant in Pennsburg

Great food, don't get me wrong. Used to order often until my mom called in an order for me for my birthday and paid with a credit card over the phone. When it was delivered they insisted it wasn't paid for and instead of calling and asking like any normal person would he got loud and embarrassed me on my front porch. I had my mom on speaker phone trying to tell him she paid because he wouldn't take the phone. Instead he trash talked me to my neighbor. Finally he gets out his flip phone from his back pocket and calls to verify that she did pay and he doesn't even say sorry he hands me the bag of food, shook his head and left. Normally I don't get shouted at by men. Worst part of the experience was they don't care and he made me feel like and told the Chinese man across the street I was trying to steal food that I could have just easily paid for out of my pocket and almost did to make him leave before he embarrassed me further. I grieve for the loss of my favorite takeout but I rather not pay to be treated like a criminal when I can just stay home and cook my own food and get treated like a short order cook from my kids and feel the same way for free. I will miss the young women who answers the phone as she is a sweetheart and knew my name and address no matter whose phone I used to call. Update 11-June-2023 Unfortunately, our most recent experience at the Golden Bowl was not as positive as our others. We waited for a long time for our food. Then, after driving 20 minutes to our destination, my vegetarian daughter found that her vegetable Lo Mein with fried tofu had shrimp in it. Also, my goto dish, Broccoli with Garlic Sauce, was fine but no longer exceptional now, just broccoli and sauce plus the fried tofu I requested. Previously, it included a nice assortment of other vegetables. I was able to get replacement vegetable Lo Mein with fried tofu for my daughter at a place near our destination, but she had to wait an additional 30 minutes for her meal. :(

I have ordered from the Golden Bowl more times than I can remember, I have yet to be disappointed. The food always arrives hot, delicious, and they have yet to make a mistake on an order. Portions are more than generous IMO and I CAN eat. Everyone there is always friendly, they even recognize me every time I call in.

Some have stated the store is disorganized. Personally, it reminds me of places just like this I used to enjoy as a kid. A small remodel or reorganization may help boost business as a tip.
