Attended for lunch, you order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. I would consider this location being a higher end Mexican restaurant with smaller portions. There is no chicken available, no free chips and salsa like I would expect at typical Mexican location. We were never asked for refills of our drinks and there were only 6 people in the restaurant. I will reconsider my tip options (that you have to do before “service” is given). Mind you this was my first time there and my experience I had. The food itself was really good and the atmosphere was relaxing, I docked stars not on the taste but the portion sizes, no chicken, and no free chips and salsa like all other Mexican locations have to be compared to. On a good note I didn’t leave feeling miserable like I typically do with other Mexican restaurants. I will likely attend a second time too so I can make sure this wasn’t just a onetime experience. I will update this review after my second trip if...
Read moreIt's nice but the al pastor certainly is not authentic, it was bland with no flavor or spice besides the hot sauce served on the side. The streak tacos had no flavor either. It's always the same with these supposed art style foods. A taco restaurant but they introduce themselves as an art gallery first and then secondly a restaurant. I spent $4 per taco, I bought 4 tacos and a typical lagunitas beer that I didn't drink. It's always kind of a tell tale sign when restaurants have only lagunitas ipa as their only ipa choice, it's like they're thinking "oh make sure you have an ipa on the list to make it look like we're hip and in and it covers the beer list of options" when really that limited bland choice of a beer just shows how not artsy they are. It's incredible how people consider themselves artists but their product lacks in depth...
Read moreIt was a great experience from the start. The owner welcomed us and took our orders. She was fabulous about answering our questions. Servers were very pleasant and responsive. The food was terrific, authentic, and reasonably priced. I had three different types of tacos. Guacamole, salsa, and chips were very, very tasty. The ambiance is that of an art gallery because the place is filled with the art work of the owner’s husband. The restaurant is situated in a renovated old brick building in a downtown area that is being rejuvenated. Parking is ample and on the street. It is a destination spot, worthy of the time it takes you to drive there for no other reason than enjoying a fantastic authentic Mexican meal. Casa de Arte is a welcoming restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere where you just want to linger to enjoy the food and soak up...
