Coming in the restaurant you can immediately see how dusty their decor is, even with the dark lighting. It needs a deep clean and things taken off the wall.
Having a reservation we didn't have to wait long and the hostess was friendly. Once seated, we could tell they were understaffed like every other place these days but the restaurant wasn't very full so I wasn't sure what was taking our waitress so long and why she kept disappearing.
When the food came, it was plated very nicely. I love the personal touches of the logo on their deconstructed chicken pot pie soup. They do a good job making plates look somewhat inviting but I am wondering why their thoughts of "elevated" or "fancy" food just means deconstructed, though. They advertise that their tamale is deconstructed, but that's honestly the theme of the menu and it wasn't all great.
The food taste however is a different story than how it looks. We ordered the deconstructed tamale, the chicken pot pie, cactus chili, and the beef tenderloin crustini. The deconstructed tamale was honestly a tasteless mess. Not even a hint of Mexican spice, the "masa" was a weird texture and the presentation with the burned corn husk is odd.
The chicken pot pie isn't advertised as deconstructed but it is. It's basically a soup with filo dough on top. I was expecting a creamy texture like you normally get in a pie but this was more brothy like a soup. And if we thought the tamale was bland, this was even more bland than that! It needed salt, herbs, FLAVOR! The cactus chili barely had cactus in it, and again BLAND.
The beef tenderloin crustini were the only plate that we actually loved! I wanted this to be a full sandwich or even mini sandwiches. The sauce on there was actually really good.
We paid almost $100 for everything but feel it was worth maybe half that price. Looking around in the restaurant they seem to cater to an older, yt crowd, so that explains the flavorless food for a high price. I was just hoping for something better for our anniversary.
Also, we put in the reservation it was our anniversary and we're never given a dessert, wine or even a happy anniversary from the waitress.
The whole experience was dull and less...
Read moreMy husband and I just happened to be in the area and decided to have lunch here a couple weeks ago. I'm a little behind on posting my pictures but the review is still going to be great. Upon walking in we were seated right away, there were quite a few people there but there was still plenty of tables available for a Sunday afternoon. When the waitress seated does she also brought us a large glass bottle of water and two glasses. As you look around the restaurant you notice that there is a loft with more tables and chairs where people are enjoying their lunch. We got the perfect little table, caddy corner right in the corner of the room. It almost felt as if we were the only ones there. We were greeted right away by a waitress and somebody that she was training, both ladies were very sweet. We told her that it was our first time there and she suggested we try and appetizer so we tried the Wisconsin cheese curds, they were beer battered, had white cheddar on the inside, and was served with ranch. They were great! We love going to places and trying different cheese curds and giving it a rating. These are fantastic I would come back just to have them again. For our main entree we both got the fried chicken sandwich. This came with pimento spread, fried onion, chipotle BBQ aioli, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a potato bun. It seemed a little bit pricey to order this for $17 but I mean, it really seems like the going right now when you do go out to eat. Whike we waited we had some cheese curds and water (that came in a glass jar.) Honestly the water tasted fresh and clean but having it be room temperature water was very unsatisfying. I usually only ever drink water but I guess I could have asked if they had some ice. It just wasn't very refreshing to have it be room temperature. The chicken tasted great I never had one before with pimento cheese on it, it was a really nice addition. I didn't have any room for dessert this time but this was a great meal and we will definitely be returning to try something new on the...
Read moreThis was a horrible experience. Our waiter didn’t communicate at all. I had to ask someone else his name. We didn’t have drinks or silverware. We waited for 2.5 hours to get our food even though tables sat before us were eating. He didn’t check in with us at all. He apologized once for the wait - full of excuses and an attitude. Just before deciding to leave the food finally came and he was no where to be found. Our food was cold and our orders were not correct. I understand it was a holiday and according to your staff you were both understaffed and there was a food shortage. We were too hungry to care that it wasn’t good. The staff also turned up the music so loud you couldn’t hear each other and it was inappropriate music. After several complaints, we asked for a manager. Our waiter informed us he didn’t want to get him because it makes our waiter look bad. He told us he talked to him but he was on the cookline so couldn’t come to us. Apparently the manager comped the entire meal because of our complaint. However, all we heard from the waiter was Happy Mother’s Day. He then had us hand him our dirty plates instead of clearing the table and left. I had to go find him to confirm we were all set and didn’t have a bill to pay. He repeated to me Happy Mother’s Day with attitude and turned around to the credit card station. He finally confirmed we didn’t have to pay. I asked to speak to a manager again and was told he was too busy cooking, but they took my information. I’m sure I won’t hear anything back. This was the worst experience I’ve had and I’ve been served milk from a waiters armpit. Unacceptable in general but especially on a holiday. I don’t see myself ever going back and that’s so unfortunate and avoidable. Be...
